Introduction

A leading ferrochrome recovery operation in the Rustenburg & Steelpoort area is seeking an experienced and results-driven Superintendent to oversee plant operations and support the achievement of production, safety, and metallurgical performance targets.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in metallurgical or mineral processing operations, demonstrated leadership experience, and the ability to effectively manage operational teams while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties & Responsibilities

Position Details

  • Lead and coordinate daily plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production.
  • Drive compliance with all safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and optimise plant performance, production outputs, recovery rates, and metallurgical results.
  • Supervise and develop operational personnel, including shift supervisors, operators, and technical staff.
  • Ensure effective execution of production plans and operational targets.
  • Identify operational improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Analyse plant data, prepare operational reports, and provide recommendations to management.
  • Coordinate maintenance requirements with engineering teams to maximise plant availability and reliability.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

  • Engineering qualification preferred (Mechanical, Metallurgical, Electrical, or related discipline). Alternatively, a technical qualification at Technician or Technologist level supported by significant operational experience in metallurgical processing plants.
  • Proven experience within ferrochrome recovery, slag processing, ferroalloy operations, or chromite processing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising and leading operational teams in a processing plant environment.
