Position Summary

Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is a community controlled Public Benevolent Institution delivering human services and social enterprise activities for the benefit of Aboriginal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, urban Alice Springs, and Central Australia.

The People & Culture Generalist plays a key role in supporting the organisation’s people strategy by delivering a broad range of human resources functions across the employee lifecycle.

This position partners with leaders and employees to provide operational and administrative support on functions such as policies, employee relations, performance management, recruitment, compliance, records management and learning and development. The role ensures HR practices align with organisational values, promote a positive workplace culture, and comply with relevant legislation.

With a strong focus on collaboration and continuous improvement, the People & Culture Generalist contributes to initiatives that enhance employee engagement, capability, and overall organisational effectiveness.

As part of your role, you will be working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnerable. It is your obligation to always ensure their safety and report any concerns in line with our duty of care obligations. We have zero tolerance when it comes to abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including and up to termination of employment, should we determine that abuse has taken place or there has been a failure to report any suspected or alleged abuse.


 

Responsibilities

  • ·       Provide administrative support across the recruitment and onboarding process.
  • ·       Provide administrative support across the induction process.
  • ·       Provide generalist HR advice and support to managers and employees on policies, procedures, and employee relations matters.
  • ·       Support Employment Hero Compliance across the Tangentyere Council workforce.
  • ·       Assist in the implementation of learning and development initiatives to build organisational capability.
  • ·       Ensure HR records and processes are maintained in compliance with relevant employment legislation and organisational standards.
  • ·       Assist with preparation for Tangentyere Council internal and external audits.
  • ·       Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.
  • ·       Assist with achieving safeguarding objectives across the organisation.
  • ·       Assist with achieving compliance objectives across the organisation.
  • ·       Other reasonable duties as required.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria

Required

  • ·       Certificate in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other post-secondary qualification in a similar field, and/or 4 years administrative experience.
  • ·       Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Aboriginal Culture and an ability to communicate with Aboriginal people.
  • ·       Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills to work cooperatively as a team member in a cross-cultural environment and maintain positive working relationships at all levels.
  • ·       Demonstrated professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • ·       Proven organisational skills, ability to set priorities and work under pressure, to perform with minimal supervision.
  • ·       Experience in the provision of a high level of administrative support using relevant communication and computer systems and software packages including word, excel and email.
  • ·       Demonstrated data collection, analysis and writing skills.
  • ·       Current NT Drivers Licence, NT Working with Children (Ochre) Card, satisfactory Police Check, and proof of full (3) vaccination against COVID-19.

Desired

  • ·       Previous experience working with Indigenous employment pathways.
  • ·       Current First Aid Certificate, or ability and willingness to attain.
