About the role
Reporting to the Head of Research, Clinical Information and Patient Education, you will lead the strategic design, delivery and continuous improvement of the Leukaemia Foundation’s Lived Experience Engagement Program (LEEP).
You will ensure the voices and experiences of people living with blood cancer, carers and loved ones are meaningfully embedded across organisational decision-making, programs and services.
This role builds organisational capability in lived experience engagement and positions consumer perspectives as a core driver of strategy, design and impact across the Foundation.
This role can be based at any of our Leukaemia Foundation offices in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of the Lived Experience Engagement Program (LEEP)
- Translate organisational strategy into practical, lived experience-led engagement approaches
- Build and sustain a diverse network of people with lived experience, carers and advocates
- Provide leadership and support to enable meaningful participation in organisational initiatives
- Strengthen organisational capability in consumer and lived experience engagement across teams
- Deliver advice, training and support to embed lived experience across planning, delivery and evaluation
- Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across health and community sectors
- Represent the organisation in external forums as required
- Work across teams to ensure integrated, organisation-wide engagement approaches
- Contribute to organisational learning, capability building and continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, procedures and relevant legislation
About you
You are a collaborative and values-driven leader with strong experience in consumer engagement, stakeholder engagement or lived experience programs within health or community settings.
You will bring:
- Experience leading and delivering strategic, national-level programs
- Experience in lived experience, consumer or stakeholder engagement roles
- Ability to translate organisational strategy into practical, outcomes-focused initiatives
- Experience building and sustaining diverse networks or communities
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor, support and empower others
- Experience influencing organisational practice and building capability across teams
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- Strong communication skills, including representing organisations externally
- Strong organisational, project management and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
- Lived experience of blood cancer or experience working closely with people affected by cancer or chronic illness
- Experience in health, advocacy or not-for-profit sectors
- Experience contributing to or representing organisations in sector forums
- Qualifications in public health, social sciences, communications or related fields
Additional requirements
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) prior to commencement
- Successful completion of relevant probity, police and reference checks
- Ability to work outside standard hours when required
- Ability to travel domestically if required
