Office Location: Administration Building

Work Schedule: The role will be onsite 4-5 days weekly

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Human Resources manages human resources, recruitment, employee onboarding, and personnel compliance for the organization. This position ensures staffing systems and employee relations align with organizational goals, Louisiana Department of Education standards, federal and state employment laws, and strategic priorities. The Director of Human Resources serves as a key organizational leader responsible for building and sustaining a high-performing, people-first culture. This role oversees human resources functions — including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance — ensuring all practices align with organizational goals, Louisiana Department of Education standards, and applicable federal and state employment law. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruitment & Staffing

  • Develops and implements the process of maintaining and revising job descriptions of district employees and district organizational charts/ master position lists.
  • Direct comprehensive recruitment and staffing initiatives.
    • Oversee applicant screening, interview processes, and hiring workflows.
    • Coordinate timelines to fill all vacancies efficiently and appropriately.
  • Execute talent acquisition and retention plans.
    • Establish partnerships with educator preparation and recruitment entities.
    • Monitor retention data and staffing vacancy trends.

Hiring & Onboarding

  • Manage employee hiring and onboarding workflows.
    • Prepare employment contracts, offer letters, and required documentation.
    • Coordinate orientation and required personnel paperwork.
  • Verify completion of pre-employment requirements.
    • Oversee fingerprinting, background checks, and verification tasks.
    • Maintain compliance with federal and state employment statutes.

Personnel Records & Compliance

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates the procedures used to maintain personnel records, files and documents properly, and has oversight responsibilities for the maintenance of such.
    • Monitor certifications, performance evaluations, and mandatory documentation.
    • Ensure accurate data entry within personnel information systems.
  • Ensure adherence to employment policies and legal standards.
    • Monitor compliance with Louisiana certification and employment mandates.
    • Maintain alignment with EEOC, FMLA, ADA, and FERPA requirements.

Certification & Credential Monitoring

  • Oversee credentialing and educator certification processes.
    • Track certification status and renewal deadlines for teachers and leaders.
    • Coordinate applications and corrective action plans for certification.
  • Oversee compliance with state staffing requirements.
    • Monitor staffing compliance reports and credentialing area alignment.
    • Ensure personnel assignments match authorized certification areas.

Employee Relations & Support

  • Manage organizational employee relations functions.
    • Respond to workplace issues, grievances, and employee concerns.
    • Support corrective action and conflict resolution protocols.
  • Promote organizational culture and employee engagement.
    • Coordinate retention initiatives and employee recognition programs.
    • Advocate for ethical and professional workplace standards.
  • Provide guidance and interpretation of personnel policies, procedures, employment practices, and organizational expectations to employees and supervisors.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and recommend resolutions related to employee complaints, policy violations, misconduct concerns, and personnel matters.

Compensation, Benefits & Leave Management

  • Oversee employee benefits and compensation processes.
    • Collaborate with appropriate Finance staff on the delivery and processing of employee stipends, salary placements, and contract modifications.
    • Facilitate benefits communication and enrollment activities.
  • Oversee attendance and leave tracking systems.
    • Monitor attendance records and employee leave requests.
    • Ensure compliance with documentation and leave policy requirements.

Evaluation & Performance Management

  • Collaborates with system leadership on the planning, implementation, and evaluation of staff development, in-service, and training programs for personnel as needed.
    • Track evaluation completion aligned with Compass expectations and timelines.
    • Maintain performance documentation and evaluation records.
  • Coordinate improvement and corrective action efforts.
    • Assist administrators with performance improvement plan documentation.
    • Ensure adherence to employment procedures and policies.

HR Systems & Operations

  • Oversee HR procedures and operational systems.
    • Manage workflows, reporting tools, and HR databases.
    • Monitor HR operational timelines and internal procedures.
  • Generate personnel and staffing analysis reports.
    • Monitor turnover data, vacancies, and staffing allocations.
    • Prepare records for state reporting, audits, and leadership updates.

Leadership & Strategic Planning

  • Serve as the primary advisor on personnel and talent matters.
    • Provide workforce analysis and staffing recommendations to leadership.
    • Support staffing alignment and organizational restructuring goals.
  • Guide strategic planning for the workforce.
    • Develop models for staffing aligned with enrollment and priorities.
    • Collaborate with school-based leaders on personnel planning needs
       

Administrative & Project Management

  • Organize and update department standard operating procedures (SOPs) and protocols.
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes in the Chief of Staff’s absence.
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for special projects, audits, and staff events.
  • Travel occasionally for testing support or school events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
     

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to identify, interpret, and document compliance requirements related to legal, contractual, or regulatory matters
  • Extensive knowledge of school laws and risk and compliance management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Experience working with HRIS and compliance management systems
  • Issues warnings related to health trends and weather to keep staff and students safe
  • Prepares and presents training materials and programs for staff and monitors the feedback
  • Intakes and follow-ups on incident and injury reports for staff and visitors
  • Conducts interviews with staff who have witnessed or reported injury
  • Files workers’ compensation claims and other insurance-related claims timely

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related professional work experience , in  a non-traditional or traditional public school
  • Physical and mental stamina and ability to perform job functions, tasks and duties.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Master’s Degree +30 
  • State and Administrator Certification 
  • 5 + years of successful experience as an educational leader or administrator
  • 4 + years in online learning environments 
  • 3 + years of charter or traditional or school system
