We are seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager – Culture & Community Safety to provide leadership and oversight across a key portfolio of community‑focused programs



Description

About the Role: 

You will: 
Reporting to the Executive Manager – Culture & Community Safety, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of Culture & Community Safety Programs, including Harm Minimisation, TP, Culture Care Connect and Paanthi programs, as well as supporting the development of new initiatives aligned to this portfolio. You will provide strong leadership to managers within the portfolio to ensure services are delivered effectively, efficiently and in line with legislative, funding, quality and accreditation requirements. The role plays a critical part in ensuring culturally safe, trauma‑informed services that respond to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, and communities.

You are a confident and collaborative senior leader with:

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex health or community services portfolios
  • Strong people leadership skills with the ability to support, mentor and develop managers
  • Proven capability in strategic planning, governance, compliance, and service performance
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Commitment to respectful, inclusive, and community‑led approaches to service delivery


Skills And Experiences

Desirable: 

  • Previous leadership experience in a community/ health service industry.
  • Previous experience working with Aboriginal people and organisations, particularly in Aboriginal health related areas at a senior level.
  • Experience in managing client focused service functions, preferably in a community environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at a senior level with Government and non-government agencies including key stakeholders and funding providers
