The Waalitj Foundation is seeking a vibrant and engaging person person to fill the position of Defence Programs Engagement Coordinator at our Waalitj Hub Office in Lathalin. This is a full time, fixed term position until end of June 2027.

About the position:
The Defence Programs Engagement Coordinator is responsible for supporting the successful implementation of the Aboriginal Defence Strategy – Over the Horizon. The role focuses on:
Managing relationships with Defence industry stakeholders and partners
Coordinating engagement activities, events, and “Meet the Buyer” initiatives
Supporting Defence‑readiness activities for Aboriginal businesses
Ensuring delivery of program milestones, outputs and reporting obligations in line with the Innovation Pathways Program Financial Assistance Agreement
The role works closely with the Client Engagement, Coaching Team and General Manager to ensure contractual compliance, effective stakeholder engagement, and measurable program impact.
Skills and Experience:
To be suitable for this role you will need to demonstrate the following work-related requirements and experience:
Relevant qualification and/or demonstrated experience in program delivery, stakeholder engagement or industry development
Strong interpersonal and relationship‑management skills
Experience working with government, defence industry and funded programs
Demonstrated ability to coordinate events, workshops and stakeholder forums
Experience using CRM systems and maintaining accurate program data
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to meet relevant position clearance requirements (including Defence-specific clearances)
Essential Requirements:
Police clearance (or ability to obtain)
C Class Driver's Licence
