Workskills is a proud, local not-for-profit that has been supporting Tasmanians into meaningful employment for over 40 years, and we’re just as passionate about it today.
Based across Southern Tasmania, we’re all about community, connection, and creating real opportunities for people to thrive. Our work makes a genuine difference, supporting stronger people, stronger families, and stronger communities.
Our approach is simple and seriously rewarding. We take the time to understand people, build confidence and skills, connect them with the right employment or training opportunities, and support them to succeed long-term.
Our teams are friendly, down-to-earth, and big on great customer service. We celebrate wins (big and small), back each other, and are always looking for better ways to do what we do. Continuous improvement isn’t a buzzword here; it’s part of our everyday work.
The Opportunity
Are you passionate about supporting young people to build confidence, skills, and real pathways into education and employment?
As a Youth Engagement Officer with Workskills, you’ll play a hands-on role in engaging young people across the community through our Transition to Work (TtW) and Troublesmiths programs. This is a dynamic, people-focused role that places you at the frontline of youth engagement.
You’ll deliver outreach activities, coordinate program intakes, facilitate engaging group activities, and provide strengths-based, one-on-one coaching to help young people take their next steps toward a positive future. It’s a role where you can use your people skills, creativity, and youth experience to make a genuine difference, every day.
As the first point of contact for young people and referral partners, you’ll manage referrals and registrations with a strong focus on engagement, accuracy, and great customer service. You’ll work closely with participants to build trust, understand their goals, and connect them to the right supports. You’ll also be out in the community delivering workshops, presentations, and events that promote Workskills’ youth programs and encourage young people to access support.
With a small caseload, you’ll provide tailored, client-centred coaching aligned with the TtW Deed, balancing autonomy with strong collaboration in a supportive team. No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who thrives on variety, purpose, and meaningful community impact.
