Position Overview

The Training, Development & Staff Engagement Manager is responsible for strengthening the organization through dynamic training programs, skill development, employee engagement, and culture-building initiatives. This individual designs and delivers effective training and also inspires staff through motivational leadership, emotional connection, and the ability to communicate the company’s mission and vision.

A core part of this role includes tracking employee training levels, conducting in-home observations and competency checks of DSP staff, and overseeing the DSP Registered Apprenticeship Program with the Department of Labor. The ideal candidate blends an inspiring presence with strong operational and compliance skills.


Key Responsibilities

Training Program Development

  • Assess training needs through performance trends, staff feedback, and leadership collaboration.
  • Create structured, engaging training programs including orientation/onboarding, skill building, and leadership development.
  • Develop multimedia instructional materials such as manuals, videos, e-learning, and workshops.

In-Home Observations & DSP Competency Checks

  • Conduct in-home observations of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to ensure quality service delivery.
  • Perform competency checks, evaluate performance, and verify required skill mastery.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and corrective guidance to DSP staff directly.
  • Document observations and collaborate with leadership on performance improvement plans.

Registered Apprenticeship Program Management (DSP)

  • Lead and coordinate the DSP Registered Apprenticeship Program through the U.S. Department of Labor.
  • Ensure compliance with all DOL standards, documentation, timelines, and reporting requirements.
  • Track apprentice progress, coordinate RTI (related training instruction), and verify OJL (on-the-job learning) skills.
  • Serve as the main contact for internal stakeholders and external apprenticeship partners.

Training Tracking & Compliance

  • File detailed and up-to-date records of employee training levels, certifications, and recertifications with HR.
  • Maintain accurate tracking systems for training completion, competencies, and regulatory requirements in collaboration with HR.
  • Prepare training compliance reports for leadership and regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Ensure all training aligns with industry standards and DSP-specific regulations.

Inspirational Leadership & Culture Building

  • Communicate the organization’s mission, vision, and values in a way that builds emotional connection and team buy-in.
  • Lead motivational workshops, engagement activities, and culture-strengthening initiatives.
  • Coach managers and employees on leadership, emotional intelligence, and staff development techniques.
  • Serve as a unifying influence, helping build a positive, supportive, growth-focused culture.

Training Delivery

  • Facilitate dynamic, interactive, high-impact training sessions.
  • Adjust delivery methods to meet diverse learning styles and department needs.
  • Manage external trainers and ensure alignment with company culture.

Continuous Improvement & Evaluation

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs using data, feedback, and performance outcomes.
  • Continuously update and improve training initiatives based on industry best practices.
  • Provide insights to leadership regarding employee development trends and opportunities.

Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Partner with HR, operations, and department leaders to support staff development goals.
  • Ensure training initiatives align with current and future organizational priorities.
  • Support supervisors in implementing employee development and improvement plans.




Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Psychology, Communications, Ministry or related field (Preferred).
  • 3–5+ years of experience in training, workforce development, employee engagement, ministry or coaching.
  • Experience conducting field observations or coaching direct-care workers is a plus.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong presentation, communication, and motivational speaking abilities.
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to inspire and influence staff.
  • Strong documentation and organizational abilities; detail-oriented with excellent follow-through.
  • Knowledge of workforce development models, RTI/OJL frameworks, and compliance processes.
  • Proficiency with LMS platforms and digital training tools.
  • Ability to build rapport, trust, and accountability with staff at all levels.
  • Technical production skills (video recording and editing) is a plus

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position; schedule may include occasional evenings/weekends depending on training needs.
  • Requires in-home travel for DSP observations and field-based competency checks.
  • May require occasional travel for professional development or apprenticeship-related events.






Compensation & Benefits

Starting Salary:

  • $50,000 per year
