Position Summary

The Talent Development Manager is responsible for bringing KSSC's core talent programs to life and executing them on time, to standard, and with measurable impact. As owner of the REACH Talent Portfolio — spanning culture, onboarding, training, leadership development, performance management and employee engagement — the Manager turns talent strategy into experiences that build a ready, capable workforce and a strong leadership bench. The Manager also leads the Talent Development team, setting priorities across a full, concurrent program calendar.

Working from the product mindset at the core of our Talent Management strategy, the Manager treats each program as a product — launched with intention, measured for impact, and continuously improved — and measures success not by programs launched but by adoption, readiness, and the actions leaders take on the results. The Manager partners closely with the Director of Talent Management, Instructional Designers, Trainers, HR Business Partners, Operations Leaders, Business Excellence Leaders, and external vendors to align program execution with KSSC's values, business priorities, and workforce needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Talent Portfolio
  • Owns the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of KSSC's REACH Talent Portfolio, including culture, onboarding, continuous learning and operational training, people leader enablement, and frontline, and high-potential leadership development.
  • Applies the product mindset at the core of the Talent Management strategy to every program, defining outcomes and success measures, gathering participant feedback and performance data, and iterating to drive adoption and continuous improvement.
  • Partners with Instructional Designers and Trainers to build program curriculum, learning materials, facilitator resources, and to deliver program sessions.
  • Partners cross-functionally with Operations, HR, IT, BEX, and Safety to plan and execute programs.
  • Partners with Senior Leaders to nominate and select leadership program participants in alignment with talent review and succession outcomes.
  • Manages relationships with external vendors and program providers, including scope, timelines, deliverables, and cost.
  • Ensures programs reinforce KSSC's culture, leadership competencies, performance expectations, and WE ROQ values and is in alignment with executive leadership.
  • Establishes and reports on portfolio success measures, including adoption, completion, readiness, internal promotion, and retention of program participants.
  • Facilitates specialized leadership development sessions on an as-needed basis.
  • Performance Management
  • Executes the organization's performance management process end to end, including the midyear and year-end reviews.
  • Partners with the Talent and Learning Management Systems Administrator to configure each performance cycle in the talent management system, including forms, workflows, timelines, and reporting.
  • Partners with Instructional Designers and Trainers to build and deliver leader training, guides, and communications so people leaders deliver feedback and complete reviews with confidence and consistency.
  • Tracks completion throughout each cycle, follows up with leaders and HR Business Partners on outstanding items, and escalates risks to on-time completion.
  • Analyzes and reports on performance results, including completion, rating distribution, and capability gaps, and recommends and drives the actions the results call for.
  • Engagement Survey and Action Planning
  • Executes KSSC's engagement survey process end to end, including survey administration, system management, data integrity, and reporting.
  • Delivers results to leaders and departments in a clear, actionable format and guides leaders on interpreting results and sharing them with their teams.
  • Partners with Senior Leaders to build action plans and holds regular follow-up to bring those actions to life and track progress between survey cycles.
  • Analyzes engagement survey trends alongside performance data to identify organization-wide themes and development priorities.
  • Team Leadership
  • Leads, coaches, and develops the Talent Development team; sets priorities, balances workload across programs, and builds team capability
  • Ensures alignment between instructional design, training delivery, leadership expectations, and performance standards in every program.
  • Reviews and approves learning content, facilitator guides, and development resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Education, Business, or a related field required
  • Five (5) or more years of progressive experience in talent development, leadership development, organizational development, or learning and development.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of people leadership experience, preferably leading instructional designers, trainers, or facilitators.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing a portfolio of talent development programs.
  • Experience executing a performance management cycle in a talent management or Human Capital Management (HCM) system, including leader training, completion tracking, and results reporting.
  • Experience administering engagement surveys and leading action planning with leaders and departments.
  • Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple concurrent programs, timelines, and stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence audiences from frontline leaders to executive leadership.
  • Experience managing external vendors and program providers, including scope, deliverables, and budget.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and talent management platforms, including Cornerstone, preferred.
  • Ability to analyze talent data and translate findings into clear recommendations and actions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in warehousing, logistics, distribution, manufacturing, or another multi-site operational environment strongly preferred.
  • Facilitation experience preferred.
  • Certification in leadership or behavioral assessment tools, such as Winslow, EQ, or others, preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Extended periods of sitting and computer use for planning, project management, and data analysis.
  • Extended periods of standing and moving about a room while facilitating workshops, cohort sessions, and leadership events.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person, by telephone, and in virtual meetings, including to large groups.
  • Occasional walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs during facility visits, including on concrete surfaces.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 25 pounds, such as training materials and event supplies.

Work Environment

  • Standard office environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Frequent time in warehouse and distribution environments where temperatures are not climate controlled and noise levels may be moderate to loud.
  • Exposure to moving material handling equipment (MHE), including forklifts and conveyors, when in operating facilities; compliance with all site safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements is mandatory.
  • Workload peaks during performance management cycles, engagement survey cycles, and the lead-up to the annual Leadership Summit, with periodic extended hours.

Travel Requirements

  • Local and regional travel required up to 25% of the time to facilities for needs assessment, program delivery, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • May include overnight stays depending on training schedule and business needs.

  • Standard office equipment, including laptop computer, monitors, printer/scanner/copier, and telephone or softphone.
  • Presentation and audiovisual equipment, including projectors, displays, and microphones.
  • Microsoft Office Suite and other collaboration platforms.
  • Learning management and talent management systems, engagement survey platforms, and leadership assessment tools.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), including high-visibility vest, safety glasses, and safety-toe footwear, when in operating facilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises the Talent Development team.
