Job Description
The Talent Development Manager is a strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of talent management initiatives to optimize the organization's performance, talent development, and overall effectiveness. This role plays a critical part in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent to drive the company's success and foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
The Talent Development Manager collaborates with various stakeholders, including HR leaders, department heads, and executives, to align talent strategies with overall business objectives to enhance employee skills, knowledge, and capabilities. Additionally, this role will lead and support various initiatives related to DEI, Employee Engagement, Employer Branding and communications, and community service to promote employer identity and corporate social responsibility.
Responsibilities
Training & Development Programs – Design, Delivery, and Implementation
- Develop and execute a strategic training and development plan aligned with company goals.
- Design and deliver programs to enhance technical skills, soft skills, leadership capabilities, compliance knowledge, and career growth.
- Identify training needs across corporate and property levels through regular assessments, leveraging e-learning, workshops, on-the-job training, and external resources.
- Support and train internal facilitators to ensure consistent content delivery.
- Create and maintain the HM Alpha Orientation Deck, Handbook Training, and Train-the-Trainer Certification Program.
Organizational Design & Effectiveness
- Assess organizational structures, processes, and workflows to improve efficiency, communication, and collaboration.
- Maintain and update property leadership organizational charts.
- Implement change management strategies and establish KPIs to measure the impact of organizational initiatives.
- Maintain HR infrastructure, improving policies, documents, job descriptions, and organizational charts.
- Promote and train the HR team on AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) to enhance productivity.
Employer Branding, Employee Engagement & Culture
- Partner with Marketing and HR to strengthen the employer brand and employee value proposition.
- Design and implement scalable recognition programs and promote company values and culture at all levels.
- Conduct employee surveys, analyze feedback, and implement engagement strategies to improve satisfaction and retention.
Brand Compliance & Training
- Serve as subject matter expert for all hotel brands (Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, IHG, etc.).
- Support properties with brand standard audits, preparation, and training.
- Create and maintain LMS tracking systems for brand compliance, ensuring accurate recordkeeping.
Performance Management
- Oversee goal setting, continuous feedback, evaluations, and development plans.
- Establish and manage the annual review process with property and senior leadership.
- Identify high-performing employees and create tailored career growth strategies.
Succession Planning
- Develop and maintain succession plans to identify and prepare future leaders.
- Build talent pipelines and ensure smooth leadership transitions.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to track relocatable managers and manage the property taskforce platform.
- Launch and oversee the HM Alpha Mentorship Program.
Talent Analytics & Reporting
- Use HR analytics to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide leadership with regular reports tracking KPIs and program effectiveness.
Community Service Initiatives
- Lead corporate social responsibility programs and volunteer efforts.
- Partner with nonprofits and community leaders to create impactful employee engagement opportunities.
Compliance & Regulatory Training / Policy Adherence
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, safety regulations, and industry standards through timely training (e.g., Active Shooter, Harassment Prevention, Labor Relations, Human Trafficking).
- Update training content as regulations change.
- Coordinate safety training strategies with Risk Management.
- Oversee workers’ compensation claims, return-to-work processes, and incident report tracking.
- Manage compliance audits, vendor management updates, and after-action reporting.
HR Operations
- Support all HR functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, payroll, benefits, and HRIS.
- Provide HR leadership coverage and assist with property acquisitions and new openings.
Budget Management
- Manage training and development budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
- Evaluate ROI of programs to guide budget decisions.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with executives, HR leaders, and GMs to align initiatives with business objectives.
- Provide regular progress updates and foster stakeholder engagement in training and organizational initiatives.
Education and Training
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- SHRM CP/SCP or HRCI PHR/SPHR preferred. ATSD (or other training) certification preferred.

Knowledge and Experience
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in training, talent development, organizational design, or human resources.
- Experience in hospitality, hotels, and corporate office environment preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of implementing successful learning and development programs.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to use data to drive decision-making.
- Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and trends in talent management and organizational development.
