Introduction

The Recruiter is responsible for attracting, assessing, and hiring high-quality talent to meet the organization's staffing needs. Leveraging an Industrial Psychology background, the incumbent applies scientifically validated recruitment, assessment, and selection methodologies to identify candidates who best fit the organization's culture, values, and job requirements. The role also contributes to talent management initiatives by providing data-driven insights into workforce planning, employee engagement, and selection effectiveness.

Duties & Responsibilities

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition

  • Partner with hiring managers to understand workforce requirements and develop recruitment strategies.
  • Prepare and publish job advertisements across appropriate recruitment platforms.
  • Source candidates using job boards, social media, networking, employee referrals, and recruitment agencies.
  • Build and maintain a talent pipeline for current and future vacancies.
  • Conduct competency-based interviews and behavioural assessments.
  • Coordinate interview schedules and candidate communications.
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process from requisition to onboarding.
  • Ensure an excellent candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.

Psychometric Assessment and Selection

  • Administer and interpret psychometric assessments where appropriate and legally compliant.
  • Conduct competency profiling and job analysis.
  • Evaluate candidates using structured interview techniques and assessment tools.
  • Prepare selection reports and recommendations for hiring managers.
  • Ensure recruitment decisions are objective, fair, and evidence-based.

Industrial Psychology Support

  • Assist with workforce planning and talent mapping.
  • Support succession planning initiatives.
  • Contribute to employee engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Analyse recruitment metrics and identify trends to improve hiring effectiveness.
  • Participate in organizational development projects as required.

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure recruitment practices comply with:
    • Labour Relations Act (LRA)
    • Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
    • Employment Equity Act (EEA)
    • Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA)
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in recruitment processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality of candidate and employee information.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with hiring managers.
  • Liaise with external recruitment agencies and assessment providers.
  • Represent the organisation at career fairs, universities, and networking events.

Reporting and Administration

  • Maintain accurate recruitment records and applicant tracking systems.
  • Prepare recruitment reports, including:
    • Time-to-fill
    • Cost-per-hire
    • Quality-of-hire
    • Source effectiveness
    • Diversity metrics
  • Ensure all recruitment documentation is complete and audit-ready.
 

 

 

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Psychology, Human Resource Management, or a related field.
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Registered Counsellor or Psychometrist is advantageous where psychometric testing forms part of the role.
  • Additional recruitment or talent acquisition certifications are advantageous.

Experience

  • 3–5 years' experience in recruitment or talent acquisition.
  • Experience conducting competency-based interviews.
  • Experience administering or coordinating psychometric assessments.
  • Experience using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
  • Knowledge of South African labour legislation and recruitment best practices.

Package & Remuneration

On Site

Mon – Friday, 07:30 – 16:30

Pension fund & medical aid. Discretionary 13th cheque

R45,000.00 – R65,000.00 CTC (negotiable and depending on experience)
