McLeod Centers for Wellbeing is currently searching for a People Operations & Payroll Administrator to join our People Operations department at our headquarters in Charlotte, NC!

You'll play a critical role in managing the organization’s full-cycle payroll process and supporting core HR systems and operations. In addition to payroll and HRIS responsibilities, the role provides administrative coordination for the People Operations team—supporting communication, organization, and follow-through across day-to-day functions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and approachable, with a strong understanding of payroll compliance and a collaborative mindset.

How will you help us achieve our mission? You will:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for People Operations, supporting employees with payroll and general HR inquiries

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the People Operations team, helping the department stay organized, informed, and responsive across projects and daily functions

  • Own and manage full-cycle, biweekly payroll processing for all employees, including review and reconciliation of timecard data

  • Coordinate benefit deductions, leave accruals, and payroll adjustments to ensure accuracy and compliance with wage/hour laws

  • Maintain accurate, compliant personnel and payroll documentation; ensure readiness for internal, external, and regulatory audits by keeping records complete and up to date

  • Partner with Finance and HR colleagues to align payroll, benefits, and policies for consistency and compliance

  • Support HR projects and initiatives with administrative coordination, communication, and documentation

What are the qualifications needed for this role?

  • 2+ years of payroll administration experience, preferably in a regulated or healthcare environment

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in HR, Accounting, or Business preferred (or equivalent experience)

  • Familiarity with payroll systems and HRIS platforms (ADP WorkforceNow preferred, Rippling a plus)

  • Knowledge of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and wage/hour requirements

  • Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and organizational skills

  • HR or payroll certifications a plus (FPC, CPP, SHRM-CP, PHR)
