Description

Mental Health Association of Nassau County (MHANC) is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to improving mental health in our community through advocacy, education, program development, and the delivery of direct services. Our organization is looking for a motivated individual with a calling to help adults with mental illness by becoming a People Operations Coordinator.


The People Operations Coordinator supports the day to day human resources functions by providing general human resources administrative support, including but not limited to talent acquisition, employment processing/onboarding, responding to correspondence, employee records management, and processing human resources transactions. 


The People Operations Coordinator is a key member of the department, supporting and contributing to the long- term development of the People & Culture Department. 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in the talent acquisition process for the Agency, including but not limited to, drafting employment advertisements, supporting Hiring Managers.
  • Process new hires, including but not limited to, drafting offer letters, processing required background checks in full compliance with regulations, maintaining up to date employment status on background check systems, processing new hire paperwork.
  • Process Background checks for new hires includes but is not limited to, criminal background checks, driver’s license checks, child registry and OMIG.  
  • Follows up with outstanding trainings.
  • Coordinates New Hire Orientations.
  • Maintains up to date employee records ensuring compliance with federal and state record keeping requirements, including, documenting and filing all employee transactions, performance evaluations, new hire paperwork, I-9 and license maintenance.
  • Processes payroll transactions in HRIS system and coordinates proper transfer of information between payroll and People & Culture.
  • Onboards new hires, including but not limited to sending out emails with first day info, ensuring the onboarding documents are completed, meeting with them on their first day, verifying I-9s, and entering eligible new hires into benefits system.
  • Maintains up to date HRIS system.
  • Coordinates exit interviews and retrieval of company equipment. 
  • Compiles ad-hoc People & Culture reports including but not limited to, staffing, employee census, and audits. 
  • Assist employees with questions related to People & Culture policies and procedures, including but not limited to health and life benefits, paid time off, employee handbook 
  • Promotes a professional, welcoming and understanding company culture through support of the organization’s mission, vision and initiatives
  • Complies with and stays abreast of federal, state, and local legal requirements 
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational and professional development agency opportunities. 
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments 
  • Partner with the Compliance department to assign mandatory training to staff, assist with creating training plans when necessary.
  • Coordinate with Chief People & Culture Officer, leadership, and c-suite executives regarding employment requisitions.
  • Complete requested documentation regarding employee leave of absence, employment verification, etc. 
  • Coordinate with IT and Compliance to ensure new employees have proper access upon start date.
  • Process terminations, ensuring the agency has received all returned equipment and access is terminated.
  • Conduct annual open enrollment consisting of hosting staff meetings, preparing files for payroll, and communicating with medical carriers/ record keeping agencies.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field 
  • 2 years Human Resources experience, required 
  • Experience in Human/Social Services field, preferred 

Other Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (word, excel, Outlook, power point)
  • Working knowledge of Paylocity and Relias Training a plus 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work with multiple levels of management
  • Strong organizational skills with detail orientation and ability to gather and analyze information skillfully 
  • Strong time management with an ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn 
  • Team player with a positive outlook
  • Ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality

Salary Description
