Job Description:
Before you apply, please note:
- This is an onsite role open to candidates within commuting distance of our South Salt Lake City headquarters.
People Ops Business Partner
As PDQ’s first dedicated People Ops Business Partner, you’ll play a foundational role in shaping how People Operations supports departments directly. You will support our R&D teams as a trusted advisor, coach, and connector — helping leaders build high-performing, healthy teams while ensuring employees feel supported, informed, and aligned with PDQ’s values.
What you’ll be doing
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with leaders and employees, becoming a go-to resource for support, guidance, and problem-solving.
- Partner closely with R&D leaders through regular consultation on team health, performance expectations, culture, and organizational needs.
- Use people data and engagement survey insights to identify themes, recommend actions, and support leaders in following through on improvements.
- Coach managers on performance management, feedback, development, team dynamics, and maintaining high performance standards.
- Support employee relations matters with discretion and fairness, conducting or supporting investigations and recommending appropriate actions.
- Provide guidance during organizational changes, helping teams navigate transitions with clarity and stability.
- Act as a bridge between R&D and the broader People Ops team, ensuring clear communication, alignment, and smooth execution of People programs and processes.
- Foster a strong, values-aligned culture within R&D through partnership, coaching, and clarity of PDQ’s expectations and ways of working.
- Support talent planning, onboarding, leveling discussions, and other team-based programs within R&D.
- Collaborate with the Director of People Operations to design and refine PDQ’s People Partner program, including playbooks, communication practices, and partnership norms.
- Navigate ambiguous situations with judgment, flexibility, and a calm, solutions-oriented approach.
Who you are
- You are a thoughtful, empathetic, and trusted partner who builds credibility through strong judgment, active listening, and a balanced, people-centered approach.
- You build strong engagement and culture, taking care of people to support them doing their best work.
- You can hold both employee experience and business needs at once — and help leaders do the same.
- You communicate clearly and handle sensitive conversations with confidence and care.
- You are proactive, dependable, and comfortable influencing leaders, especially in moments that require clarity or coaching.
- Above all, you help teams live PDQ’s values through everyday actions, and you take pride in creating a positive, high-performing environment for both employees and managers.
We're looking for people who have
- 4–6 years of experience in a People Partner, People Ops Business Partner, HRBP, or related role.
- Experience supporting technical teams or partnering with R&D, Engineering, or Product organizations.
- Strong understanding of employee relations, performance management, coaching, and organizational health.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and influence leaders through insight, communication, and sound decision-making.
- Experience analyzing people trends and engagement feedback to recommend and drive improvement plans.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to navigate sensitive topics with discretion and professionalism.
- Comfort working in fast-growing, evolving environments with shifting priorities.
- A collaborative, flexible mindset and the ability to work effectively with People Ops partners, leaders, and employees.
- A commitment to fostering a positive, values-driven, high-performance culture across R&D.
