Description

The Opportunity

The primary function of the People & Culture Officer is to provide high quality human resource practices and processes, which includes supporting employees through the employee lifecycle in a way that creates a positive experience for prospective, new and existing employees. The Wandiyali People & Culture team has the following key responsibilities;

  • Recruitment and selection
  • Remuneration and benefits
  • Employee development
  • Management of ELMO
  • Reporting and metric of people related data in the organisation
  • Performance management including termination
  • Complaint and allegation management and reporting
  • Grievance and dispute management
  • Employment relations 
  • Participate in change management processes
  • Coaching and mentoring of supervisors and managers
  • Assist in the review and development of policies and procedures relevant to the human resources portfolio
  • Facilitation of training

Skills And Experiences

Essential Criteria 

  • A commitment to the Vision, Mission, and Values of our organisation
  • Identifies as Aboriginal or/and Torres Strait Islander, or non-Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who meets all other selection criteria can be offered a 2-year contract in this position.
  • Relevant qualifications in Human Resources or willing to work towards qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage reporting requirements with required timeframes, internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated skills in interpersonal communication, including; capacity to deal with a range of stakeholders across varying levels within and external to the organisation, and skills in conflict resolution and negotiation
  • Time management skills, including the ability to balance competing priorities and meet strict deadlines with attention to detail.
  • The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with other services in our community and attend local network events.
  • Ability to participate positively in teamwork, training, and supervision processes.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
