Swordfish Computing is an innovative Adelaide based Digital Science and Technology business. Swordfish was established in 1999 with the goal of providing specialist Computer Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, and Modelling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) services in support of Defence Research and Development (R&D) programs within Defence.
Swordfish Computing has grown to over 90 staff who have broad experience across Air, Land, Sea, Joint and Intelligence projects supporting research, development, and sustainment of advanced capabilities.
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented People and Culture Coordinator to deliver efficient HR operations and support our organisational objectives. This role is pivotal in managing the employee lifecycle, maintaining accurate people records, and ensuring compliance across key processes.
You will coordinate people milestones such as probation reviews and performance check-ins, manage recruitment activities, and oversee onboarding processes. Additionally, you will contribute to compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives while providing first-line HR support to employees and supervisors.
Part time hours, minimum 30 hours per week may be considered.
Maintain accurate employee records in ELMO HRIS
Prepare employment documentation (offers, contracts, variations, terminations)
Manage electronic filing systems ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
Coordinate HR milestones including probation reviews and performance check-ins
Support recruitment. Post job advertisements and manage candidates, schedule interviews. conduct reference checks
Maintain compliance registers (training, licences, WHS, security)
Generate HR metrics and assist with internal and external audits
Assist with reviewing and updating HR policies, templates and Confluence guides.
Provide first‑line HR support via shared inbox/HR ticketing; triage matters to HR Advisors/Business Partners as needed.
Minimum 5 years' experience as an HR / People and Culture Coordinator Role or similar role.
Strong organisational and time management skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Pro-active problem-solving approach to challenges.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
Highly proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Demonstrated experience in a professional service environment supporting executive teams and handling sensitive information.
Experience or exposure to Defence, Australian Military or Emergency Services environments would be advantageous
It is a requirement that the successful candidate must provide proof of Australian Citizenship to gain appropriate Defence Security Clearances.
