People and Culture Consultant, Occupational Health & Safety

Reporting to the Manager of Health, Safety and Wellness, the People and Culture Consultant for Occupational Health & Safety, will assist in the development and implementation of NLC’s OHS program, and have responsibility for:

  • Providing advice and guidance to NLC management, staff, OHS committees and Worker Health and Safety Representatives;
  • Monitoring NLC’s OH&S performance indicators related to lost time incident rates, workplace inspections, internal audit scores, etc. and implementing prevention initiatives that impact performance;
  • Facilitating the hazard assessment process and conducting audits;
  • Overseeing the incident reporting/investigation process and providing support/leadership to management and staff;
  • Working with Managers to achieve compliance with PRIME requirements and facilitating the PRIME audit process by collaborating with Workplace NL representatives and providing information required to support the audit;
  • Assisting with the development of safe work practices/procedures and policies.
  • Supporting development and implementation of industrial hygiene/occupational health programs such as hearing conservation and respiratory protection;
  • Developing and implementing OHS training;
  • Developing education/awareness material;
  • Travelling across the province to visit NLC locations, as needed.

For consideration as a potential candidate, the individual should possess the following qualifications:

  • University degree in OHS or a university degree in a related field supplemented with a certification/diploma in OHS.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) Designation preferred;
  • 3-5 years experience working in the field of OH&S;
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively manage time, prioritize work and work effectively under tight timelines;
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong knowledge of applicable OH&S and Workplace NL policies/procedures and legislation.

Salary:  HL-19 ($ 72,169.31 – 93,820.74) under classification review

Hours of Work:   75 bi-weekly (flexible work arrangements available with approval)
