The People & Culture Advisor plays a key role in delivering expert advice and operational support across all facets of employee relations and people strategy. The role ensures Tradewind’s compliance with Australian employment law while also contributing to a safe, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture. Through timely guidance, systems oversight, and proactive risk management, the Advisor supports internal leaders, protects brand and legislative obligations, and promotes values-aligned staff experience. The role will be responsible for mediating conflicts, undertaking performance management activities, managing sensitive documentation and information, and ultimately mitigating any employment relations risks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Advisory & Support:

• Guiding the leadership team through the employment relations activities, developing and mentoring individuals in line with operational excellence expectations and measurements against department deliverables and KPI’s.

• Champion the organisations vision and values through leading by example in operational excellence, professional behaviour and high standards of work.

• Ensure all communications and relevant information is updated in the CRM or other related Tradewind systems.

• Conduct bi-yearly professional growth meetings with all internal employees to support career development and grievance management.

• Promoting Work Health, Safety & Wellbeing at all staff functions, running training when and where appropriate.

• Partner with all members of management team to support and enable achievement of strategic goals and projects.

• Lead and participate in projects focused on continuous improvement in employee relations

Work Health, Safety & Wellbeing:

• Provide timely advice, coaching, and support to leaders and staff on matters, including WHS legislation, and policy/process interpretation.

• Support the internal WHS committee meetings and champion follow up actions.

• Provide exceptional communication and collaboration with to any relevant stakeholders, both internal and external, for any claims.

• Manage the injury reporting and Workcover claims process for both internal and external employees.

• Own and manage the Return-to-work (RTW) process in collaboration with the Director of P&C.

• Conduct the annual staff feedback survey from conception to reporting to management key recommendations and action points to consider.

• Liaise with marketing and management on promoting a safe and inclusive workplace, with both internal and external stakeholders.

Employee Relations & Case Management:

• Collaborate with senior business stakeholders, Team Leaders, and P&C team to develop and implement Employee Relations processes, procedures, and programs.

• Investigate, analyse, and resolve employee relations issues promptly and effectively.

• Lead and conduct thorough and well-documented investigations for grievances and mediation meetings, along with development opportunities and disciplinary procedures for external candidates.

• Provide timely advice, coaching, and support to leaders and staff on workplace relations matters, including awards, Fair Work legislation, and policy interpretation.

• Represent the organisation at the Fair Work Commission and relevant conciliations or with union representatives.

• Assist in creating, reviewing and maintaining policies and procedures for best practice and compliance with industrial obligations.

• Develop and facilitate relevant training and workshops for Team Leaders.

• Cultivate meaningful relationships with key stakeholders to empower leaders in performance improvement and facilitate important conversations.

• Monitor and communicate changes in relevant legislation, regulations, and standards.

Data, Systems & Compliance Reporting:

• Provide monthly reports on performance and grievance metrics, identifying trends.

• Conduct monthly audits and provide reports on compliance for external employees registering with the business and for consistency of wellbeing calls to newly placed external employees.

• Ensure all communications and relevant information is updated in the CRM or other related Tradewind systems.

• Review the 1:1 content monthly for any concerns and coaching support for leaders.

Other Responsibilities:

• Support the training and development of P&C Coordinator.

• Supporting the strategic goals, P&C team and leadership team, and fostering collaboration, communication and growth.

• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and guidance notes aligned with best practices and compliance standards.

• Support the monthly reports, statutory submissions, and other organisational reporting requirements.

• Assist with ad hoc projects and contribute to the continuous improvement of operational processes.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management,or a related discipline.

• Demonstrated experience in employee relations / industrial relations in a corporate setting.

• Strong knowledge of HR policies & procedures, industry best practices and national employment legislation.

• Demonstrated experience in leading and coaching leadership teams to ensure a seamless delivery of high-quality employment relations activities.

• Consistently model the appropriate behaviour, standards and output to the team, by always demonstrating the full skillset required to be successful in their role.

• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.

• Excellent time management and organisational skills.

Desired:

• Experience in employee relations activities in the recruitment agency industry.

• Experience in collaboration with unions, employment lawyers and the Fairwork Commission.
