Managerial, Professional and Specialist Staff - MPSS The Communications, Marketing and Recruitment team in the College of Physical Sciences and Engineering is seeking to recruit a Student Recruitment Marketing Officer.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and personable, with exceptional and confident communication skills. The role itself will support a variety of student recruitment and marketing activity and will work closely and collaboratively with colleagues across our seven constituent Schools as well as teams in central professional services.
Experience of student recruitment, supporting the implementation of marketing campaigns and creative content creation would be advantageous, but not all are essential. Ideally, we are looking for an energetic and committed individual who is keen to develop a career in marketing. Someone who is creative, eager to learn, and full of exciting ideas.
You will manage conversion activity and will take a proactive role in supporting our schools’ recruitment events programme, both on campus and online. You will assist with marketing campaigns, content creation, student recruitment and international partnership processes. You will provide excellent digital and administrative support relating to UK and international recruitment marketing activities, and work closely with the Digital Communications and Campaigns Manager and Head of Communications, Marketing & Recruitment to deliver projects.
You will report directly to the Digital Communications and Campaigns Manager within the College of Physical Sciences and Engineering.
The College team has a blended approach to working. The team currently works on campus on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and remotely (from home) for the rest of the week. The option to work on campus full time is available if staff members choose to do so.

This position is full-time, 35 hours per week fixed term until 16th October 2026.

Salary: £33,951 - £36,636 per annum (Grade 5).

Key Duties- Provide professional advice and guidance on marketing for student recruitment, and student recruitment activity itself, including processes and procedures, to internal and external customers, using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action where appropriate, and ensuring complex and conceptual issues are understood.
- Investigate and analyse specific issues and opportunities within our recruitment marketing activities, creating recommendation reports, supported by advances within the sector. This will include evaluating activities and events (such as Open Days and advertising campaigns).
- Ensure that the provision of marketing and student recruitment support is delivered to the College’s seven academic schools, proactively changing the delivery according to customer requirements.
- Gather and analyse data and other market information to support activities such as: programme portfolio reviews; assessing market share and market demand for new and existing programmes; identifying the key markets for programmes.
- Coordinate requests from central Professional Services and Schools e.g. Undergraduate /Postgraduate Prospectus/ School brochures, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Support the development of marketing materials for the College and School-led activities e.g. Open Days and Offer Holder Days
- Collaborate with others in order to support conversion activity, including recruitment events where applicable, making recommendations for developments of established processes and procedures
- Establish working relationships with key contacts, developing appropriate communication links with the University’s Schools/Directorates and outside bodies as required
- Supervise specific project teams on an occasional basis to accomplish key objectives
- Develop and deliver training within key areas of the team’s marketing activity, such as using Campaign Monitor.
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to support the department, including servicing key groups such as College ARG and the DoI Forum, and providing support to the international academic network as and when required.

Essential CriteriaQualifications and Education
- Degree/NVQ 4 or equivalent Professional membership/experience
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Substantial experience of working within HE in a student facing or student recruitment or marketing role
- Able to demonstrate professional knowledge within student recruitment or marketing to give advice and guidance to internal and external customers
- Ability to set up standard office systems and procedures and make improvements as appropriate
Customer Service, Communication and Team Working
- Ability to communicate conceptually detailed and complex information effectively and professionally with a wide range of people
- Evidence of ability to explore customers’ needs and adapt the service accordingly to ensure a quality service is delivered
Planning, Analysis and Problem solving
- Evidence of ability to solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity; identifying and proposing practical solutions and resolving problems with range of potential outcomes
- Evidence of demonstrable knowledge of key advances within student recruitment or marketing
- Evidence of ability to work unsupervised to deadlines, planning and setting priorities for own work and that of others and monitoring progress.
