Description

Hallbrook Country Club has a rare and unique opportunity to hire a Human Resources Director who will have a direct impact on enhancing the employee experience, and strengthening the employee culture across all levels of our Club.

We are seeking a forward-thinking, dynamic professional who enjoys exploring innovative ways to create fulfillment in the lives of our employees beyond traditional benefits and compensation. This Director will be a key member of the Club’s leadership team, helping guide decision-making for an organization with eight departments working in unison to deliver memorable experiences to both our members, and one another.

The Human Resources Director will also lead the Club’s initiatives related to benefits and compensation, talent acquisition, and compliance in the workplace. While this role will not be responsible for processing payroll each pay period, the Director will support payroll personnel in ensuring compensation packages and benefits are administered accurately.

 

SUMMARY:

The HR Director will be directly responsible for nurturing and fostering the employee culture of the club. This role will also assist Club management and staff with recruitment, selection, and orientation of new staff members. This role will maintain and administer personnel records, ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws,and benefit administrative programs. The HR Director will be responsible for managing the day-to day generalist functions, in addition to facilitating and managing the Club’s training, education and team development programming. This role serves as a champion to cultivating a work environment that supports the Club’s mission, core values, and is a key advocate of HR Practices.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Benefits and Compensation

  • Review capabilities of payroll system and makes recommendations for updates and efficiencies with appropriate management team member(s)
  • Propose employee benefits enhancements to the General Manager and Controller
  • Manage the Club’s group insurance, unemployment and related benefits programs; communicate benefits information to staff
  • Facilitate bonus and commission payments in accordance with employment agreements
  • This role may also be assigned other duties as needed related to Benefits & Compensation

Talent Acquisition

  • Assist Leadership team in recruitment strategies
  • Develop recruitment ads and social media messages
  • Conduct preliminary employment interviews with manager/ supervisor applicants
  • Ensure that new employees complete the necessary employment forms and confirm that they are authorized to work in the United States
  • This role may also be assigned other duties as needed related to Talent Acquisition

Employee Relations

  • Coordinate, monitor and suggest improvements for the Club’s employee performance appraisal system
  • Manage the Club’s personnel program; assist in the development and implementation of applicable policies and procedures; process various labor staffing reports; coordinate software applications to generate required information
  • Maintain organizational charts
  • Develop personnel-related reports for the General Manager or department heads.
  • Manage employee recognition and retention programs
  • Enhance programming
  • Advise managers about discipline, discharge and related employment matters
  • Undertake special projects relating to job description and specification updates, performance appraisal improvements, wage and salary comparison surveys, long-range staff planning and other personnel issues
  • This role may also be assigned other duties as needed related to Employee Relations

Compliance and Safety

  • Interact with Club’s attorney relative to personnel legal issues involving concerns about EEOC, harassment and lawsuits
  • Keep current with laws and regulations relating to employees; assure compliance with these laws and regulations; advise club managers as necessary
  • Continually review and assist in updating the employee handbook and personnel-related policies; assist in the management of the Club’s progressive discipline program; maintain Club policy manual
  • Coordinate all employee record-keeping functions in accordance with federal and state requirements
  • Interact with General Manager and department heads to investigate employee violations of Club policies and to recommend correction actions, if necessary
  • Oversee all work-related injury claims to ensure integrity, ongoing case management and reporting compliance
  • This role may also be assigned other duties as needed related to Compliance & Safety

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. Degree in Business Administration or Human Resources preferred
  • Designation such as PHR and SHRM preferred
  • 4+ years of Human Resources experience required
  • High energy with comfort being visible around the club and within each department’s team
  • Able to consistently uphold and share the importance of our core values to current and new employees
  • Actively seeks new opportunities to expand programming to grow culture and values
  • Expert in labor laws set by governing authorities and organizations
  • Excellent leadership, training and development skills
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to comprehend complex language, theories and methodologies
  • Skillful in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in a private club environment or hospitality field is preferred but not required
