About the Role

The Human Resources (HR) Director provides leadership and oversight for all HR functions within the bank. This role ensures the alignment of HR practices with organizational goals, compliance standards, and the bank’s people-first culture. The HR Director partners with leadership to attract, develop, and retain a high-performing workforce while fostering engagement and accountability.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team on HR strategy, workforce planning, and organizational development.
  • Translate business goals into HR initiatives that support growth, retention, and culture.
  • Provide input and reporting to the Board of Directors and auditors regarding HR matters.

 

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Develop and manage recruitment strategies to attract top talent aligned with the bank’s values.
  • Oversee the full cycle hiring process, including job postings, interviewing, and selection.
  • Lead onboarding and orientation programs to ensure seamless integration of new team members.

 

Employee Engagement & Culture

  • Promote a culture of trust, accountability, and service aligned with the bank’s core values and community banking.
  • Develop recognition and engagement programs that support employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Provide support, conflict resolution, and guidance to managers and employees.
  • Ensure periodic visits to all branch locations to maintain leadership visibility, reinforce cultural alignment, and promote employee engagement across the organization.

 

Compensation, Benefits & Payroll

  • Oversee compensation structures to maintain internal equity and market competitiveness.
  • Manage benefit programs including health, retirement, and wellness initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate payroll administration.

 

Performance Management & Development

  • Design and oversee performance evaluation processes to support accountability and growth.
  • Develop training and development initiatives, including leadership and succession planning.
  • Support managers in identifying employee development opportunities.

 

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, regulations, and banking requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook.
  • Represent HR during internal and external audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and confidentiality of sensitive information.

 

HR Operations & Analytics

  • Manage the HRIS, HR systems and reporting to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyze HR metrics related to turnover, engagement, and workforce planning.
  • Continuously improve HR processes to enhance efficiency and employee experience.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • HR certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) preferred.
  • 7+ years progressive HR experience with 3+ years in a leadership role highly desired.
  • Community banking or financial services industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
