 Job Title:  Human Resources Director 

Supervised by:  Chief Executive Officer


Job Summary: 

The Human Resources Director is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. Provides strategic leadership by articulating HR needs and plans to the Senior Management team and the Board of Directors, as needed.

  

Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas: 

  • Functions as a strategic business advisor to the Senior Management team regarding key organizational and management issues. 
  • Develops and implements comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are aligned with the organization’s objectives. 
  • Reviews and makes recommendations to Senior Management for improvement of the organization’s policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters. 
  • Works directly with department directors to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on HR matters. 
  • Advises department directors in employee relations and oversees employee discipline and terminations. Investigates and resolves complex employee issues, such as discrimination, harassment, and employee wrongdoing. 
  • Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state and local legislation pertaining to all HR matters. 
  • Communicates changes in the organization’s HR policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed. 
  • Collaborates with Senior Management in the review, preparation, and administration of the organization’s wage and salary program. 
  • Coordinates exit interview process to determine reasons behind separations. 
  • Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the Chief Executive Officer, on HR-related matters. 
  • Supervises the staff of the Human Resource department. 
  • Administers the employee benefits programs. Advises and informs employees of changes and developments related to benefits including eligibility, coverage, and provisions. Provides customer service support as primary contact to internal and external benefits customers.  
  • Participates on committees and special projects. 
  • Develops and presents benefits recommendations to Senior Management and/or the Board of Directors. 
  • Analyzes relevant market factors, including compensation packages and incentive options. 
  • Conducts audits on HR functions to ensure compliance with policies, programs, and legislation.    
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the organization as well as the focus statement of the department.


Requirements

 Regulatory Requirements:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration from an accredited school, required. 

· Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field, preferred.

· Five (5) years of progressively more responsible Human Resources experience required.


Language Skills:

· Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

· Excellent presentation skills.


Skills:

· Basic computer knowledge.


Physical Demands:

· Normal office environment. Close eye work. Hearing within normal limits. Frequent sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds.
