HR Leadership & Strategy

Our Community

The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony represents descendants of three Great Basin Indigenous peoples: the Numu (Northern Paiute), Newe (Western Shoshone), and Washeshu (Washoe). These communities lived in harmony with the land for generations before European contact, following seasonal cycles and forming small, efficient social groups for survival.

Each group's name means "The People" in their own language, reflecting their deep cultural identity and connection to the Earth. They maintained strong traditions, respected neighboring tribes, and engaged in trade throughout the region.

Today, the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony continues to honor these traditions while supporting the well-being, culture, and future of its tribal community.

A Typical Workday

Your day is anchored by steady, confidential work and responsive problem-solving. You may start by reviewing overnight hiring updates and preparing the weekly openings list for distribution. Mid-morning often brings scheduled check-ins with managers, followed by drafting a memo or report for upcoming Managers', Directors', or Tribal Council meetings. In the afternoon, you might shift to reviewing benefit renewals, reconciling HR budget items, or preparing performance review materials. You'll also make time for employee questions that require careful listening and clear written follow-up. Some weeks include committee meetings (Safety or IT), coordination with local training partners, or a forum session with other tribal HR leaders. While the schedule is typically Monday–Friday, you stay ready for occasional evening or weekend needs when leadership requests support.

Benefits Package

RSIC provides a benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage; Life Insurance; a 401(k) plan; and Paid Time Off.

Please Note: Hiring preference is provided to qualified members of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony followed by members of other federally recognized tribes. Reno-Sparks Indian Colony requires any designated candidate to complete a pre-employment criminal background check, drug screen, and confirmation of professional references.
