Our people are at the core of everything we do, and we are seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources to support our growth and ensure a positive and productive workplace culture.

Position Summary:

We are looking for a people-focused, strategic, and hands-on Director of Human Resources who will serve as a key member of the leadership team and trusted advisor to the CEO. Based in our Portland, OR studio, this role will lead and execute compliant and consistent HR initiatives across Straub Collaborative’s four studios and is responsible for shaping and executing the company’s people strategy, aligning HR practices with business goals, and fostering a strong, inclusive culture. 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team on organizational planning, culture, and people development.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies that support the company's goals and promote a high-performance, value-driven culture.
  • Lead workforce planning, change management, and organizational development initiatives.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Manage and mentor a remote HR team located in New York, providing leadership, coaching, and performance oversight.
  • Establish clear team goals and ensure accountability across all HR functions and locations.

HR Operations and Compliance

  • Oversee all aspects of HR operations including employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, and compliance.
  • Ensure legal compliance across OR, NY, NJ, UT, WA and MD, and proactively manage risk related to employment law and workplace policies.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve HR processes, systems, and tools.

Talent Acquisition and Retention

  • Lead the company’s talent acquisition and retention strategies to attract, hire, and grow top-tier talent.
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure a streamlined, inclusive hiring process
  • Enhance onboarding, development, and succession planning to build a sustainable and scalable workforce.

Culture and Engagement

  • Champion a positive, inclusive, and equitable work environment.
  • Lead initiatives related to employee engagement, DEI, and internal communications.
  • Act as a trusted resource for employees and managers, supporting conflict resolution and fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.

HR Analytics and Reporting

  • Leverage data and analytics to inform decision-making and provide strategic insights to leadership.
  • Monitor key HR metrics and trends to support continuous improvement and growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or director-level role.
  • Demonstrated success in a multi-location, multi-state environment, knowledge of Oregon, New York, New Jersey, Utah, Washington and Maryland employment laws and willing to learn the ones that are not known.
  • Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and experience partnering with senior leadership.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or related certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Paylocity is a plus.
  • Experience working in an e-commerce environment or photo studio environment is a plus.
