Your opportunity at FIELD
As a Civil / Structural Engineer with 5-8 years' experience, based in our Brisbane office, you will use your analytical expertise working to develop practical solutions to complex engineering problems for our clients.
We specialise in small to medium-sized projects and aren't afraid to take on work that others might find "too hard" or "high risk". You will work on end-to-end design, development and verification. You'll get the satisfaction of taking diverse projects from concept to completion and may head to site yourself to see the problem firsthand to ensure a fit-for purpose final result.
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, you will be a degree qualified engineer (B Eng Civil) who enjoys sinking their teeth into a challenging problem. We are looking for:

Structural Design & Analysis: 5 to 8 years of experience in the design and analysis of concrete and steel structures and their foundations.

Software Proficiency: Proficiency in SPACE GASS is required.

Standards Knowledge: Solid familiarity with AS4100, AS3600, AS1170, and AS1657.

Pragmatic Problem Solving: The ability to develop solutions with the information available, while having the initiative to negotiate with clients for further data when required to ensure a robust outcome.

Project Versatility: The ability to work independently on smaller assignments or collaborate effectively within a team on larger industrial projects.

Practical Mindset: A knack for providing tailored, fit-for-purpose solutions curtailed to specific site situations and constraints.

Communication & Coordination: Strong report-writing skills and the ability to coordinate with drafters - reviewing work, providing clear mark-ups, and conveying technical solutions.

Client Management: The ability to communicate technical solutions to non-technical, site-based clients and a desire to develop your own professional business network.
Also an advantage:
- experience with Ansys and Solidworks
- experience with repairs and retrofitting of existing structures
- knowledge of mining infrastructure (reclaim tunnels, culverts, retaining walls, shutdown / construction pads).
- experience with construction phase support or forensic inspections
- the ability to interpret geotechnical testing data (DCP, plate load bearing tests).
