Bookkeeper (HR Experience Advantageous) – Immediate Start Required

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Bookkeeper to join our team immediately. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the day-to-day bookkeeping, payroll administration, reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance functions of the business.
Bookkeeping experience is a non-negotiable requirement for this role.
While exposure to Human Resources administration will be advantageous, candidates without HR experience will still be considered provided they have strong bookkeeping and payroll experience.
This is an urgent appointment, and only candidates who are immediately available and able to commence employment by 22 June 2026 should apply.


Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Bookkeeping (Essential)
  • Record, process, and maintain all day-to-day financial transactions accurately and timeously.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Process supplier invoices, payments, and debtor collections.
  • Maintain and reconcile the cashbook.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Reconcile debtor and creditor accounts.
  • Assist with budgeting and cash flow forecasting.
  • Process VAT and ensure compliance with SARS requirements.
  • Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
  • Prepare management reports and financial information.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies and financial controls.
  • Maintain and support the accounting system, preferably SAP Business One.
Payroll Administration (Essential)
  • Process payroll accurately and within prescribed deadlines.
  • Verify timesheets and payroll information.
  • Administer payroll-related deductions, benefits, and reimbursements.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and statutory submissions.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee remuneration data.
Human Resources Administration (Advantageous)
Candidates with HR administration experience will have an advantage.
Exposure to the following will be beneficial:
  • Employee onboarding and offboarding administration.
  • Maintaining employee records and HR documentation.
  • Assisting with recruitment activities.
  • Monitoring leave, attendance, and absenteeism records.
  • Supporting performance management processes.
  • Coordinating employee training initiatives.
  • Assisting with employee queries relating to HR and payroll matters.
  • Ensuring compliance with labour legislation and company policies.
Business Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial and administrative processes.
  • Support operational efficiencies and process improvements.
  • Provide administrative and analytical support to management.
  • Develop a sound understanding of company operations and business requirements.
 
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or a related field.
Essential Experience
  • Minimum 3–5 years' proven bookkeeping experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years' payroll administration experience.
  • Experience managing debtors, creditors, bank reconciliations, VAT, and financial reporting.
  • Experience working on accounting software systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Sound knowledge of bookkeeping principles and financial controls.
Advantageous Experience
  • Previous Human Resources administration experience.
  • Experience with recruitment, employee records management, and labour legislation.
  • Experience working with SAP Business One.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting processes.
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation, VAT, SARS requirements, and financial compliance.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
