DADA Goldberg is a creative communications agency focused on creating thoughtful stories for distinguished design and destination brands. Our services include public relations, brand positioning, event concepts and management, media planning, and social media.
Position Summary: Reporting to the Account Director, the Account Manager supports our media relations efforts on behalf of our international clients. Responsibilities include managing day-to-day client communication for 7-9 accounts in the arts, culture, and design spaces.
The Account Manager builds strong client relationships beyond the life of a single project by communicating clearly, managing expectations, and delivering results. The Account Manager leads client and team meetings and manages high-profile events. They supervise a team of account executives and coordinators.
Essential Job Functions (duties include but are not limited to the following):
- Build effective and efficient teams by setting clear goals, troubleshooting any challenges that arise, communicating regularly with direct reports, and managing accounts to profitability;
- Gain the confidence of clients by thinking strategically about their challenges and demonstrating strong project management skills in the execution of account work;
- Develop and implement outreach strategies to the press, influencers and other target constituencies;
- Create quarterly outreach calendars to be followed by the team;
- Draft strategic pitches for feature coverage and reach out to the media to secure coverage and negotiate exclusives;
- Oversee mass coverage efforts of the direct reports by encouraging them to move along the pitching calendar, with an eye towards quality of results, account goals and successful level of results for the client;
- Review pitches drafted by direct reports to ensure they’re on message and well targeted; Assist in developing alternative outreach strategies and pitch ideas and targets if necessary;
- Train and guide direct reports in comp research and continuously expanding their media universe, searching for new media opportunities internationally;
- Utilize email, phone calls and personal meetings to establish strong relationships to the media;
- Create and review substantive and accurate materials to be distributed to the media;
- Respond in a timely and cordial manner to inbound media requests for materials and interviews;
- Build relationships with writers, editors, influencers and producers who might cover our clients;
- Review agendas and briefings for press and client meetings;
- Review weekly, monthly, and final activity and media reports for clients;
- Review “best of” case study decks for clients periodically to ensure best work is up-to-date;
- Help amplify media and social coverage on Instagram and LinkedIn through DADA channels, the clients’ and the media involved;
- Read and track daily coverage of clients and related news stories online and in print;
- Plan and execute media events on behalf of clients (including coming up with event concepts, vendors list and target attendee lists; Create run-of-show and briefing documents to share with the client and event staff; quality control at the event by managing staff; liaise with photographers and influencers at the event to ensure intended social coverage and event photos; conduct media relations and client/ media introductions at the event;);
- Train and supervise Account Executives and Coordinators with clear direction;
- Provide meaningful and constructive feedback to direct reports as part of the annual performance review process;
- Onboard new reportees, taking them through job descriptions, training documents, account goals, status, and team member orientation.
Working Conditions: Work is performed from home with in-person clients, editors, or team meetings and events happening throughout the week. The Account Manager will be expected to travel to client events regularly; and, on occasion, service client projects outside of regular working hours. Every member of the DADA Goldberg team must adopt and make daily use of office systems such as Google Suite, Canva and Slack.
Requirements:
- B.A. degree
- 4+ years of experience in public relations + portfolio of media placements
- Able to work independently and multi-task; pro-active and solution-oriented
- Demonstrates leadership and professionalism to clients, colleagues, and direct reports
- Ambitious and hard-working
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Detail-oriented and fastidious about data entry and database management
