Are you a senior Human Resources professional with hospitality experience? Are you hands-on and energetic?  If so, you may be the person we’re looking for to lead our Canadian Division’s People & Culture discipline. There is flexibility about where you will be based, were remote first, but travel is required. The Vice President of People & Culture – Canada will be responsible for providing support and direction to our Canadian group of hotels, across five time zones and in five provinces.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • You’re highly flexible and able to quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • You’re excellent at identifying and articulating problems and influencing decision-makers
  • You’re highly organized, self-motivated, customer-oriented and able to work independently as well as within a collaborative team environment, and with internal business partners at all levels of the organization
  • You are excited to take a lead role in collective bargaining, supporting the hotels in handling of grievances and union avoidance.
  • Your ready to create and own deployment, administration and sustainment of new and existing P&C policies and programs, including managing health, dental and long-term savings programs.
  • Engaged as a trusted adviser and subject matter expert to coach property leadership and managers on sensitive work-related issues related but not limited to organizational design, conflict resolution, performance management, conducting investigations and arranging return to work programs for both work related and non work related injuries/illnesses.
  • Provide support to all property and corporate associates to ensure that concerns and questions are heard, understood, and responded to in a professional, efficient manner.
  • Support in the development, execution, and rollout of projects and programs such as performance management, engagement, etc.
  • Develop, participate, and communicate employee engagement initiatives and organize company social responsibility activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity through all courses of actions.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and provincial requirements.

 

Required skills and abilities for this position include:

  • Minimum five years’ experience as a property-level Director of Human Resources, or two years at a multi-property level;
  • CHRL designation or equivalent in your province;
  • Experience in labor relations, including negotiating collective agreements.
  • Strong knowledge & experience in benefits, compliance, employment law, employee/labor relations, recruitment and learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong desire to continuously improve and help others improve.
  • Ability to travel within North America (up to 20%).
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
