Position Summary:
The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine of Rowan University is seeking Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians to join our new veterinary program and teaching hospital, to serve within our ambulatory Shelter Medicine and Community Engagement (SMCE) service. The main teaching hospital is located 1.5 miles from our main Glassboro campus. The SMCE consists of a mobile RV style clinic based out of the veterinary teaching hospital, and a satellite spay neuter clinic located in Clayton, NJ, which is 12 minutes from main campus.
Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine is a new and innovative veterinary teaching hospital for small animals, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. The teaching hospital is designed to accommodate multiple specialty departments, including anesthesia, cardiology, dermatology, dentistry and oral surgery, diagnostic imaging, emergency/critical care, exotics, internal medicine, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, primary care, and a full pharmacy with sterile compounding capabilities.
These positions will support the clinical services in the Shelter Medicine and Community Engagement section serving patients in animal shelters and in underserved and marginalized communities throughout southern NJ while educating our students. Selected candidates will be able to:

The Veterinary Assistants and Veterinary Technicians will report directly to the Veterinary Technician Manager.
Required Qualifications & Salary Information:
The starting rate for each level is equivalent to the probationary rate listed below based on the collective bargaining unit guidelines. After completion of a six-month probationary period, the employee's pay can increase to the “Job Rate” for that position. Depending on experience, the candidate may be hired at the "Job Rate" to start. This position is with an ambulatory service and a valid driver’s license, and reliable personal mode of transportation is required.
Veterinary Technicians (Credentialed, evidence of passing the VTNE)
Veterinary Assistants (Non-Credentialed)
*Hourly rates reflect each position’s pay post 7/1/26 per the collective bargaining agreement.
*Employees must have 4+ years of applicable experience to be hired above the probationary rate per the collective bargaining agreement.

The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine is located on the Glassboro, New Jersey west campus, 22 miles southeast of Philadelphia. The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine admitted its first class of DVM students in 2025. Facilities include an academic teaching facility aimed at the delivery of pre-clinical training, a small animal teaching hospital, ambulatory Large Animal Field Service and Shelter Medicine and Community Engagement sections, and a research facility.
