This full-time position is in compensation Pay Range F that pays from $58,823 to $82,285 annually, plus fringe benefits. Starting salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

ACSET OVERVIEW: ACSET is the administrative and fiscal agent for the Michigan Works! Agency of Allegan, Barry, Ionia, Kent, Montcalm, Muskegon and Ottawa Counties. West Michigan Works! mission is to lead workforce development strategy and resource alignment in West Michigan by understanding the talent needs of employers and employment needs of job seekers and connecting them to solutions.
 
JOB SUMMARY:
 
The Talent Development Manager will oversee the workshops offered by West Michigan Works! to job seekers. Duties include curriculum, workshop and staff development to ensure West Michigan Works! is providing appropriate opportunities to meet the needs of area employers and job seekers. Responsibilities are carried out directly, and through supervision of assigned staff, with wide latitude for initiative and independent judgment.  
 
 
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  1. Identify necessary workshops for West Michigan Works! to offer based on employer needs, job seeker knowledge and new job search and industry trends. 
  1. Research, plan and implement employability and job search skills training programs to prepare job seekers for the next step of their career paths.
  1. Supervise Talent Development Instructor staff; provide guidance and direction; evaluate staff performance and assess need for training and career development.
  1. Manage Talent Development Instructor schedules with respect to community partner and work ready communities.
  1. Evaluate existing workshops and recommend and oversee updates and improvements as necessary.
  1. Stay up to date on industry trends and provide guidance to West Michigan Works! staff.
  1. Analyze data to improve outreach and participation in West Michigan Works! workshops.
  1. Manage survey results and use the information to ensure performance improvements.
  1. Manage the production of workshop marketing materials in collaboration with the marketing team. 
  1. Collaborate with the Business Solutions and Talent Solutions managers to evaluate community partner needs and provide relevant and timely training to meet those needs.
  1. Communicate workshop opportunities and advantages to all Talent Solutions staff members to increase engagement in valuable workshops.
  1. Identify and schedule appropriate guest presenters.
  1. Identify and implement training on key performance indicators and prepare and present reports on these indicators. 
  1. Prepare routine and special reports as required.
  1. Attend professional development activities and seminars.
  1. Actively participate in continuous quality improvement processes.
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.
 
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  1. The job requires a Bachelor’s Degree and two to four years of experience working in an education or nonprofit environment.
  1. Experience in training and/or curriculum development and staff development is preferred.
  1. Supervisory skills necessary to effectively manage the daily operations and administration of assigned functions.
  1. Ability to apply analytical skills in identifying operational problems and potential solutions.
  1. Written skills necessary to prepare routine and special reports and other required documentation.
  1. Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate in both oral and written form with prior experience in public speaking.
  1. Communication and organizational skills that contribute to a quality work environment and the ability to work as a team.
  1. Planning and time management skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  1. Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, state and local agencies, and the general public.
  1. Ability to organize, prioritize, and maintain confidentiality while providing patient, friendly, and participant centered services.
  1. Knowledge of the principals and practices of public administration.
  1. Knowledge of relevant human service programs, resources, and procedures.
  1. Mental ability to work on projects requiring concentration and attention to detail with frequent disruptions from people, phone calls, etc.
  1. Physical ability to frequently lift/carry/transport supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.  Must frequently sit in one position for extended periods of time.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
 
  1. Normal office environment with little discomfort due to noise, dirt, dust and the like.
  1. Local travel may occasionally be required.
