JOB SUMMARY

 

The Senior Manager, Employer Brand is responsible for developing and executing Marriott Greater China’s employer branding and recruitment marketing strategy to strengthen Marriott’s position as an employer of choice, support priority hiring needs, and build sustainable talent pipelines. The role translates Marriott’s global employer value proposition into locally relevant narratives, campaigns, content, and candidate experiences across digital, social, campus, industry, and associate advocacy channels.

 

Reporting to the Senior Director, Talent Acquisition & Employer Brand, Greater China, this position partners closely with Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, Talent Management, Learning & Development, Internal Communications, Brand/Marketing, Operations leaders, global COEs, external agencies, media platforms, universities, and industry partners. The role owns the annual employer brand calendar, leads always-on and campaign-based recruitment marketing, manages employer award and recognition programs, measures employer brand impact through data and insights, and provides day-to-day direction to one Employer Brand Specialist to ensure high-quality execution and continuous improvement.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

 

Education and Experience 

  • Minimum 6–8 years of experience in employer branding, recruitment marketing, talent acquisition marketing, corporate communications, digital/social marketing, or related fields, preferably within a sizeable, matrixed, consumer-facing or hospitality organization.
  • Proven ability to develop employer brand strategy and translate it into integrated recruitment marketing campaigns, content calendars, channel plans, and measurable talent attraction outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of candidate personas, talent market insights, EVP localization, social media behavior, campus and experienced-hire attraction channels, and candidate experience touchpoints.
  • Experience managing employer award submissions, industry recognition programs, HR media partnerships, university partnerships, career events, and external employer brand networks.
  • Hands-on experience using digital marketing, analytics, social listening, CRM or talent community tools, and generative AI to improve content production, audience targeting, campaign optimization, and reporting efficiency.
  • Proficiency in managing China and global employer brand channels, including WeChat, Douyin, RED, Weibo, LinkedIn, career sites, recruitment platforms, and offline employer brand events.
  • People management experience preferred, including coaching, prioritizing work, reviewing deliverables, and developing one direct report or project team members.
  • Fluent in both Mandarin and English; based in Shanghai with stable on-site working availability.

  • Strategic storyteller with strong written, verbal, visual, and presentation skills; able to translate business priorities, culture, associate stories, and talent needs into compelling employer brand narratives for different audiences.
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align HR, TA, Communications, Marketing, Operations, agencies, and external partners around shared goals, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Data-driven and commercially minded, with the ability to define KPIs, interpret campaign performance, monitor employer brand sentiment, and recommend actions that improve talent attraction, engagement, conversion, and return on investment.
  • Creative, curious, and digitally fluent; maintains a strong pulse on talent market trends, emerging social platforms, AI-enabled marketing tools, employer award criteria, and competitive employer brand practices.
  • Detail-oriented and execution-focused, with the discipline to manage complex award submissions, content calendars, campaign logistics, agency deliverables, budgets, approvals, and reporting timelines.
  • Inclusive team leader who can coach and empower one direct report, balance strategic priorities with hands-on delivery, and model collaboration in a matrix organization.

     

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

 

  • Employer Brand Strategy, EVP Localization & Governance
    • Partner with Global Employer Brand COE, Greater China HR leadership, TA, HRBPs, and business leaders to localize Marriott’s global EVP into relevant narratives, messaging pillars, creative standards, and toolkits for China talent segments.
    • Build and maintain an annual employer brand roadmap aligned with workforce priorities, priority hiring segments, campus attraction, experienced-hire pipelines, diversity and inclusion goals, and Marriott’s associate value proposition.
    • Ensure consistency, governance, and quality control across employer brand messaging, recruitment marketing assets, career content, job advertising language, event materials, and associate storytelling.

       

  • Recruitment Marketing Campaigns & Content Activation
    • Own the annual employer brand content calendar and deliver always-on and campaign-based recruitment marketing for key talent audiences, including campus talent, frontline and operations roles, experienced professionals, and critical-skill populations.
    • Develop compelling, channel-appropriate content including associate stories, leadership messages, campaign copy, social posts, short videos, event materials, career site content, job marketing assets, and recruitment toolkits.
    • Partner with TA, Internal Communications, Marketing, properties, and agencies to plan, produce, approve, launch, and optimize employer brand campaigns across digital, social, event, and internal advocacy channels.

 

  • Digital Channel Management, AI Enablement & Campaign Optimization
    • Manage and optimize employer brand presence across key China and global platforms, including WeChat, Douyin, RED, Weibo, LinkedIn, career sites, recruitment platforms, and relevant HR/talent communities.
    • Use analytics, social listening, audience segmentation, and responsible AI tools to improve content relevance, creative efficiency, candidate engagement, follower growth, lead generation, and application conversion.

       

  • Talent Pipeline Growth, Candidate Experience & Employee Advocacy
    • Partner with TA to identify priority roles and candidate personas, translate hiring needs into targeted marketing plans, and strengthen talent communities, campus pipelines, alumni engagement, referral promotion, and passive-candidate attraction.
    • Design and activate employee advocacy programs that enable associates, leaders, recruiters, and property teams to share authentic Marriott stories while maintaining brand, privacy, and reputational standards.
    • Collaborate with recruiters and hiring teams to improve candidate-facing touchpoints, including job marketing content, career event experience, candidate communications, onboarding handoffs, and post-campaign feedback loops.

 

  • Employer Awards, Market Intelligence & External Partnerships
    • Lead employer award and recognition programs by identifying priority awards, interpreting criteria, collecting supporting data and case studies, drafting submissions, coordinating approvals, and managing organizer relationships.
    • Conduct ongoing competitor benchmarking, talent perception research, channel performance review, and industry trend analysis; convert insights into recommendations for HR leadership and TA stakeholders.
    • Develop productive partnerships with HR associations, award institutions, universities, media platforms, KOLs, vendors, and agencies to expand Marriott’s employer brand reach and talent market influence.
  • Performance Measurement, Budget Management & Team Leadership
    • Partner with the Talent Insight to establish employer brand dashboards and reporting routines to track content reach, engagement, follower growth, talent lead volume, application conversion, source quality, award outcomes, sentiment, and campaign ROI.
    • Manage campaign budgets, vendor scopes, agency deliverables, procurement processes, and resource allocation to ensure efficient use of investment and measurable business impact.
    • Provide day-to-day coaching, prioritization, feedback, and quality review for one Employer Brand Specialist; build capability in content creation, channel operations, campaign analytics, and stakeholder management.
