Work Calendar:     All 12 Month Staff

Job Summary and Purpose

 

Under the direction of the Director of Talent Development, the Specialist of Talent Development supports the department’s mission to attract, develop, and retain a highly effective workforce. This role contributes to the planning, coordination, and implementation of initiatives that enhance employee growth and professional development, while providing operational and administrative support to Human Resources and Talent Development efforts.

 

Work Objectives/Essential Functions

  • Promotes and disseminates information about professional learning opportunities across the division to ensure equitable access and participation.
  • Coordinates and provides logistical and operational support for Talent Development events, ensuring smooth execution and positive participant experiences.
  • Collaborates in the design and implementation of onboarding programs for newly hired staff and administrators, supporting a welcoming and informed transition into the division.
  • Supports the development and facilitation of teacher growth initiatives, including organizing and maintaining teacher development programs and cohort structures.
  • Assists in planning and coordinating professional conferences, workshops, and divisionwide learning events to strengthen capacity of all staff.
  • Cultivates and maintains productive partnerships with higher education institutions, community partners, and educational organizations to expand pathways for educator development, recruitment, and ongoing professional growth.
  • Oversees and processes financial transactions in compliance with division policies, including requisitions, purchase orders, and invoice management, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Administers and tracks tuition assistance requests and payments, maintaining accurate documentation and communication with staff.
  • Prepares, reviews, and maintains accurate employee payroll records on a monthly basis to ensure timely and correct compensation.
  • Participates in ongoing professional learning relevant to the position and shares new knowledge and best practices with colleagues to enhance collective team capacity.    

 

Education and Experience

 

Education Level              

  • Associate’s degree (or equivalent)
  • Bachelor’s degree (Preferred)

 

Specific Educational Requirements

  • From an accredited college or university is required.
  • Human Resources, Business Administration or related fields preferred

 

Experience                      

  • At least two (2) years of experience (Preferred)

 

Specific Experience Requirements

  • Experience completed in either a human resources office and/or a K-12 school division

Formal Certifications Relevant to the Job

  • None    

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in data management, financial, and HR systems, with the ability to analyze and report information accurately.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with knowledge of staff development, adult learning principles, and talent management practices.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Work environment is primarily inside, with moderate noise, temperatures that are controlled, and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.
  • The work is moderate work, requiring exertion of up to 50 pounds of force to move or lift objects.
