Description

The Senior Manager, Talent Development – Leadership & Executive Development is responsible for defining and leading Delta Dental's enterprise leadership and executive development strategy. This role supports long-term business success by strengthening leadership capability, succession readiness, and organizational effectiveness across a remote, multi-campus environment. The Senior Manager partners closely with executives, senior leaders, and the People Org to design leadership pathways, deliver impactful development experiences, and measure outcomes that prepare leaders to lead today and into the future.



Responsibilities
  • Defines enterprise leadership development strategy and multi-year roadmap
  • Designs differentiated development pathways for professionals, managers, senior leaders, and executives
  • Establishes and evolves a unified leadership philosophy and competency framework
  • Develops scalable leadership programs using blended and experiential learning approaches
  • Leads mentorship, coaching, and executive development ecosystems
  • Partners with executives to align leadership development with business strategy and succession planning
  • Measures leadership program effectiveness using analytics and business outcomes
  • Oversees leadership development portfolio governance, vendor partnerships, and budgets
  • Leads and develops a team of leadership and executive development professionals
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to executives on leadership capability and readiness


Qualifications
  • 8+ years w/Bachelor’s degree; 1+ years supervisory/management 
  • Degree in I/O Psychology, OD, HR, Learning Sciences, or MBA preferred. Certifications: ATD CPTD/APTD, ICF coaching, change (e.g., Prosci), psychometric tools, or similar.
  • Advanced Leadership & Talent Development Expertise: Deep knowledge of leadership development, adult learning theory, and organizational development frameworks.
  • Strategic Learning Architecture & Systems Thinking: Ability to translate enterprise strategy into a cohesive learning and leadership development ecosystem, aligned to workforce needs and future ready skills.
  • Differentiated, Persona Based Program Design: Skill in designing development pathways tailored to four audience levels (Professionals, Managers, Directors, VP+), building capabilities for today while strengthening the future leadership bench.
  • Mastery of Modern Learning Methods: Expertise in blended learning design using experiential learning (70), coaching/social learning (20), and formal instruction (10).
  • Coaching & Facilitation Skills: Ability to lead cohort experiences, partner with external coaches, and embed coaching mindsets and practices into leadership development at scale.
  • Data Literacy & Learning Impact Measurement: Ability to measure learning effectiveness using methods such as Kirkpatrick Levels 1–4 and Phillips ROI (Level 5) and use insights to improve programs.
  • Stakeholder Influence & Consulting Skills: Strong capability to consult with senior leaders, influence decisions, build alignment, and communicate complex talent strategies simply and persuasively.
  • Technology & Digital Learning Proficiency: Working knowledge of LMS/LXP platforms, digital learning tools, virtual facilitation, and analytics dashboards to deliver scalable remote enterprise learning.
  • Team Leadership & Cross Functional Collaboration: Ability to lead, coach, and develop a team of learning professionals while collaborating with HR partners and business stakeholders across a dispersed organization.


Licenses
• Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP). Pref'
• Certified Hogan Assessor or Coach, International Coach Federation. Pref'

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental’s assessment of the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. 
Pay Grade 23. $107,464 - $232,906
