Senior HR Director - UK 

StandardAero has an exciting opportunity for a strategic Human Resources Leader to join one of the largest independent aviation service businesses in the world. The Company is a global organization with ~7000 employees working out of facilities strategically located in 55 primary locations across 6 continents.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for StandardAero’s Commercial Engine Services & Military Divisions, the Senior HR Director - UK will act as a key member of the UK strategic leadership team, with accountability to the UK Managing Director and Business Unit and Functional leaders across this complex business. 

The Senior HR Director - UK will be accountable for the leadership and delivery of results in the areas of Leadership Development, Talent Acquisition, Employee Engagement, Employee Relations and Compensation in the StandardAero UK locations in Gosport and Portsmouth, England and Almondbank, Scotland.  The role will be based out of the Fleetlands site in Gosport and the post holder must be willing to travel as needed to Portsmouth and Perthshire.

Key responsibilities and duties:

 

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the UK Senior Management team and other members of Leadership, providing strategic HR guidance on the people, teams or programs necessary to drive people objectives

  • Inspire and motivate a collaborative and highly functioning HR team

  • Collaborate with global HR Central Function partners to develop and deploy HR solutions that drive organizational alignment while allowing for local nuance

  • Develop, coordinate and participate in creative solutions to business challenges and cultural change.

  • Identify and coordinate long term talent management planning to develop longer term organizational capability

  • Partner with Business Leadership on business growth activities including acquisitions and integrations

  • Routinely consult and engage with leadership to foster and promote engagement at all levels of the organization

  • Ensure the consistent and equitable application of organization policies and procedures

  • Take appropriate actions to address and resolve employee relations issues

  • Assess risk and identify gaps in employee relations processes

  • Drive progressive union relation strategies and ensure an effective working relationship with the UNITE trade union

  • Participate in site-wide and company-wide HR initiatives as required

     

     

Competencies:

 

  • Demonstrates strong influencing skills and effective communication/interpersonal skills.

  • Up to date knowledge of employment law and the implications to the business.

  • Experience of delivering advice on legislation, compliance and best practice.

  • Hands-on working with local union representatives that engenders a strong working relationship to drive business goals.

  • Versatile track record in software utilisation to drive HR productivity, including but not limited to creation and manipulation of excel spreadsheets, HR database systems.

  • Effective use of KPIs to drive HR Operational Excellence.

  • Experience in complex employee relations case work, including dismissals.

  • Able to appropriately challenge the status quo and put forward proposals for change.

  • Previous experience of restructuring, re-organisation and change management.

  • Able to provide statistical analysis to identify trends and make evidence based decisions and recommendations.

  • Maintains the integrity of people management data to protect all parties in relation to GDPR.

     

 

Experience:

 

  • Comprehensive experience in an HR business partnering environment within an international organization; experience managing multiple locations.

  • Experience within aerospace, engineering, manufacturing or production environments. 

     

 

Professional Qualifications/Education and Training:

 

  • Minimum CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) to demonstrate capability within the HR field.

     

 

Other factors:

 

  • Due to the nature of our business this role requires a fully office-based presence.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the UK.
