A Day in the Life
The Facilitator, Global Learning & Leadership Development (GLLD), is a critical member of the Global Facilitation Team responsible for delivering exceptional leadership development experiences that build capability, drive performance, and strengthen Medtronic’s leadership culture. This role requires mastery in facilitation, coaching, and learner engagement, ensuring a seamless and impactful participant experience across a portfolio of global programs. Facilitators represent the face of GLLD to thousands of learners annually and are responsible for upholding facilitation excellence, brand stewardship, and the Medtronic leadership philosophy.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Program Delivery
- Facilitate high-impact leadership development experiences virtually and in person, from short sessions to multi-month programs.
- Deliver program content consistently and adaptively, adjusting style, pace, and tone to meet audience and session needs.
- Ensure learner engagement using storytelling, coaching, Socratic questioning, and experiential techniques.
- Manage group processes including small group work, debriefs, role plays, and peer coaching.
- Address resistance and sensitive topics with professionalism, cultural competence, and emotional intelligence.
Leadership Coaching
- Provide 1:1 and small group coaching aligned to program goals and participant development plans.
- Use ICF-aligned coaching practices to build trust, increase self-awareness, and drive behavioral change.
- Administer and debrief leadership assessments (e.g., 360s, Hogan, MBTI, DiSC, StrengthsFinder).
Learning Environment Management
- Foster inclusive, respectful, and psychologically safe learning environments.
- Apply adult learning principles and evidence-based facilitation practices.
- Monitor learner engagement and adjust facilitation strategies in real time.
Preparation and Readiness
- Prepare for delivery by reviewing facilitator guides, participant pre-work, and session logistics.
- Participate in train-the-trainer sessions and program rehearsals to ensure delivery excellence.
- Partner with producers, co-facilitators, and program managers before, during, and after sessions.
Brand Stewardship
- Serve as a role model for Medtronic leadership behaviors and values.
- Reinforce GLLD’s leadership philosophy in all facilitation activities.
- Represent the Medtronic brand consistently across global audiences.
Continuous Improvement
- Provide structured feedback to instructional design and program management teams.
- Stay current on leadership development and facilitation best practices.
- Contribute expertise to program design and enhancements.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of facilitation experience, including 5+ years in leadership development, OR advanced degree with 5+ years of facilitation experience in leadership development.
- Proven ability to deliver programs for mid-to-senior level leaders.
- Demonstrated expertise in creating engaging, inclusive, and psychologically safe learning environments.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, including international assignments.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in Organizational Development, Psychology, HR, or related field.
- ICF Coaching Certification (ACC, PCC, or MCC).
- Certification in assessment tools (Hogan, DiSC, MBTI, StrengthsFinder, Leadership Circle Profile).
- Certification in facilitation methods (IAF, ATD, DDI, Prosci, or equivalent).
- Experience facilitating programs for Fortune 500 companies or top leadership institutes.
- Fluency in multiple languages.
- Strong executive presence, emotional intelligence, and intercultural awareness.
- Familiarity with LMS/LXP platforms, virtual collaboration tools, and facilitation technology.
