We are currently seeking a People Operations Specialist - Leaves to join our organization. As the People Operations Specialist - Leaves, you'll be responsible for administering all activities for leave administration for the organization which includes Family Medical Leave Act, Medical Leave, Paternity and Maternity Leave, Short and Long-term disability, worker’s compensation, American Disability Act accommodations, and any other applicable leaves. You'll review all leave and disabilities related documentation for accuracy and completeness, and forward notification to the proper departments for processing. You'll identify problems and priorities, perform research, determine follow-up steps and resolves issues. You'll partner internally on issues that must be escalated, and work to support resolution. You'll be responsible for supporting the leave program and assisting the Director of People Operations with gathering and analyzing data on leave communications and activities. You'll assist employees in first level question resolution, ensuring generalized understanding of leave and accommodation processes and programs, through orientation or ad hoc needs.

What You'll Do:

  • Administer full cycle of activities for leave administration for the organization which includes Family Medical Leave Act, Medical Leave, Paternity and Maternity Leave, Short and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, American Disability Act accommodations, and any other applicable leaves.
  • Responsible for developing, tracking, and managing all documentation, notifications, correspondence, administration details for employee leave of absence. 
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and ensure management understanding of company responsibilities during an employee absence or accommodation. Educate employees and managers on the LOA, Worker's Compensation and/or ADA interactive process and act as a primary contact to the employee and manager.
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, and state and local laws. Recommend improvements and revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Review processes and recommend program efficiencies for the Credit Union leave program(s) in partnership with the Director of People Operations, regarding leave system administration to support a positive employee experience.
  • Assist with operations programs as needed to include benefits, compensation, analytics, and engagement to include eligibility and requirements, communication with employees and managers, tracking, and notifications. Supports compliance with all regulatory requirements. Assist with department and organizational audits to include Payroll, NCUA, and Baker Tilly.

  • Represent the organization at community events promoting our organization as a preferred financial institution and workplace.

What You'll Need: 

  • Three years to five years of similar or related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field. Certification in SHRM, PHR preferred

Key Skills and Experience: 

  • Knowledge of FMLA, ADAA, and company leave programs.
  • Ability to diagnose LOA situations, determine appropriateness of leave, and advise employees and managers on their rights and responsibilities related to leave.
  • Must be able to handle multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, deal with sensitive information and handle problem resolution.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external customers appropriately via in person, email etc.
  • Experience in multi-tasking, meeting strict deadlines, dealing with sensitive information, and problem resolution while providing exceptional service.
  • Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office and all internal systems as affiliated with the department.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and proactively communicate.
