Job Summary:

The People Operations Manager is responsible for delivering efficient, accurate and compliant people processes across the employee lifecycle, enabling a consistent and high-quality employee experience.

Managing a team of two direct reports, the People Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining the integrity of people data and systems, managing operational people processes, documentation, reporting and acting as a key liaison between People & Culture, Group Finance and the Workday team.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of end‑to‑end People & Culture operational services across the employee lifecycle, ensuring processes are compliant, scalable and aligned to business strategy and growth.

  • Manage and develop the People Operations team to deliver high‑quality, consistent and efficient people administration, including onboarding, internal movements, contract generation and offboarding.

  • Oversee the HR Inbox and employee enquiries, acting as a point of escalation and ensuring timely, accurate and customer‑focused responses.

  • Ensure accurate, compliant and well‑governed employee records, including right‑to‑work checks, contract end dates, due diligence and statutory requirements.

  • Act as the primary operational liaison between People & Culture, Payroll and Workday teams, ensuring effective data flows, approvals, issue resolution and alignment to key business and finance cycles.

  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise for Workday Core HCM, including position management, employee lifecycle processes, data integrity, governance and continuous process improvement.

  • Oversee People & Culture data reporting and analytics, delivering accurate insights to support workforce planning, compliance, audits and decision‑making, including cyclical and statutory reporting (e.g. attrition and WGEA).

  • Support audits, compliance reviews and people‑related risk management, working closely with the Head of People Partnering to ensure alignment with employment legislation, modern awards and regulatory requirements.

  • Partner with Payroll to support payroll risk management through oversight of HRIS data inputs, timesheets and award compliance analysis.

  • Collaborate closely with People Partnering, Talent Acquisition and People Experience teams to enable delivery of the broader People & Culture strategy and improve employee experience.

  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, automation and standardisation of People & Culture operational processes and systems.

Requirements:

  • Leadership experience in P&C Operations or a P&C shared services function.  

  • Capability to own and continuously improve end-to-end people processes. 

  • Knowledge of employee lifecycle administration, including onboarding, internal job changes, contract generation, employee due diligence and offboarding.  

  • Knowledge of Australian employment law, including familiarity with modern awards and the Fair Work framework 

  • High degree of accuracy and ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive employee information. 

  • Hands on experience using a large HRIS platform, preferably Workday.  

  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders across multiple business units.  

  • Confident change and systems skills, including testing, accepting and embedding HRIS changes 

  • Capability to translate complex requirements into clear guidance and practical training for People & Culture and leaders 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills.   

  • Excellent written communication skills.  

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels including large group presentations.
