Position Description
We are hiring a People Operations Manager to support our team during our operating season and help create a structured, supportive, and high-performing work environment.
This role owns the people systems that enable the resort to operate well: seasonal hiring coordination, onboarding, employee relations, manager support, departmental integration, and workplace consistency in a fast-paced, remote hospitality setting. You will partner closely with department leaders and directly supervise our Resident Advisor / Employee Activities Coordinator, who oversees housing.
The People Operations Manager ensures that expectations are clear, managers are supported, and employee concerns are handled fairly and consistently.
This is a hands-on, people-focused leadership role designed for someone who enjoys being visible, building trust, and solving real-world challenges in a dynamic environment.
Position Details

Location: Fairbanks, AK / Himalaya Road, Fairbanks North Star Borough
Reports To: General Manager
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: $3,138.46 biweekly, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
Seasonal Workforce Readiness
- Own the annual seasonal hiring calendar in partnership with the General Manager and department manager.
- Coordinate job postings, applicant flow, interview scheduling, hiring checklists, and candidate communication.
- Support managers in using consistent interview questions, hiring standards, and evaluation scorecards.
- Help ensure new hires understand the realities of working at a remote winter resort, including housing, weather, schedules, guest expectations, and company standards.
Onboarding, Communication, and Employee Experience
- Own the employee onboarding process from offer acceptance through first week of work.
- Supervise the Administrative Assistant to ensure onboarding documents, ADP setup, benefits information, employee files, and required acknowledgments are complete and accurate.
- Improve pre-arrival communication, first-day experience, staff orientation, and employee readiness.
- Identify recurring employee pain points and partner with managers to resolve them.
- Support employee recognition, feedback, communication, and engagement practices throughout the season.
Employee Relations and Manager Support
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers, addressing workplace concerns, guiding conflict resolution, and ensuring fair, consistent outcomes
- Coach and support managers in handling performance issues, feedback conversations, and team dynamics, helping build leadership capability across departments
- Lead and document employee relations matters, including investigations, corrective actions, and terminations as needed
- Reinforce clear expectations, accountability, and consistent application of company policies and standards
- In collaboration with the Administrative Assistant, support HR administrative functions, including onboarding, offboarding, and maintaining accurate documentation using ADP Workforce Now
- Collaborate with leadership to maintain a professional, respectful, and supportive work environment across all teams
- Directly supervise and support the Resident Advisor / Employee Activities Coordinator, providing guidance on housing-related escalations and alignment on overall employee experience
- Partner across departments to identify trends, address challenges proactively, and improve the overall employee experience in a remote, seasonal setting
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 5+ years of human resources experience, preferably in hospitality, seasonal, or remote operations.
- Experience coaching managers or supporting performance management
- Strong background in employee relations, investigations, conflict resolution, and policy guidance.
- Experience managing or supporting staff housing or remote workforce housing (preferred).
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
Requirements
- Professional, approachable, and supportive leadership style.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to balance guidance and accountability.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Experience facilitating performance reviews, corrective action plans, and employee coaching.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions, including uneven terrain andextreme weather.
