People Architects is partnering with a well-established, family-owned business to recruit a People Operations Manager for an on-site role in Wooster, Ohio.
Summary: This is a hands-on HR leadership role supporting multiple transportation and operations teams. You’ll partner directly with drivers, dispatchers, operations leaders, and executives to build a strong culture, improve recruiting, support employee relations, and ensure compliance across a growing organization.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable coaching leaders, resolving employee issues, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping build a strong, safety-focused culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary HR partner for multiple locations, aligning people practices with business and operational goals.
- Lead recruiting, onboarding, and retention efforts for office, operations, and CDL driver positions.
- Manage employee relations, investigations, performance management, and supervisor coaching.
- Oversee payroll, HRIS administration, benefits, leave management, and personnel records.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and transportation-related regulations, including DOT/FMCSA requirements.
- Partner with Operations and Safety teams on training, incident response, return-to-work programs, and workplace initiatives.

Track and analyze HR metrics to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
Qualifications (Required and Preferred):
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations and recruiting.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance.
- Experience supporting transportation, logistics, manufacturing, or other operational workforces preferred.
- Familiarity with DOT/FMCSA regulations and driver qualification programs is a plus.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems.
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
