SLR is looking for a People Operations Administrator to help deliver a high quality, responsive HR and payroll service to colleagues across Europe.


This role is based in our Bristol office, which can be balanced with the option to work flexibly from home too.

The role

What you’ll be doing:

Payroll Support

  • Processing payroll data accurately and on time — including starters, leavers, changes, deductions, and additional hours.
  • Ensuring payroll activity complies with statutory requirements and company policies.
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records.
  • Investigating and resolving payroll queries quickly and professionally, escalating where required.

HR Administration

  • Maintaining accurate employee records throughout the full employee lifecycle.
  • Managing new starter and leaver processes, including contract administration and onboarding.
  • Updating and maintaining the HRIS and processing HR change requests.
  • Supporting the administration of company benefits.
  • Working collaboratively with the People Team, Shared Services and Service Lines to ensure seamless data flow.

General Administration

  • Monitoring and responding to the People EU inbox, often dealing with high volumes and shifting priorities.
  • Maintaining internal systems, databases and spreadsheets.
  • Liaising with IT to ensure correct access and system set ups for starters and existing employees.
  • Handling sensitive and confidential data in line with GDPR and company policies.
  • Working autonomously, taking initiative, and supporting with ad hoc duties as required.

General Corporate Responsibilities

  • Building effective working relationships and communicating professionally and empathetically, especially when dealing with sensitive matters.
  • Upholding all GDPR, data security, confidentiality, and Health & Safety obligations.
  • Undertaking mandatory training and demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development.

  • Managing your workload effectively and raising concerns around quality or risk with the team or manager.

  • Collaborating with the wider People function to ensure a consistent and high-quality People service.
  • Remaining flexible as responsibilities evolve to meet business needs.

About you


You should be able to demonstrate the experience, qualities and attributes below:

Knowledge & Experience

  • Good IT skills, including working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook, alongside the ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
  • Previous administrative experience, ideally within an HR and/or payroll environment, with an understanding of employment legislation
  • Awareness of confidentiality principles and secure handling of information.
  • Ability to identify your own training and development needs.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and work on your own initiative.

Education & Qualifications

You should have a good general level of education with GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

Although not essential, you might also have CIPD Level 3 (or a willingness to work towards this) and/or other professional qualifications and/or evidence of ongoing professional development.
