Description

Passionate about people? Lead our People & Culture function and help shape an amazing employee experience.

If you care about people, want your work to have purpose, and value being part of a team that works well together and gets things done, this is a role where you can make a genuine impact.
At Lutheran Care, how we support our people directly shapes the support they provide to others. This role sits right in the middle of that. You’ll work across a workforce of around 250 staff and 350 volunteers delivering services across South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Reporting to the Executive Manager People, Culture & Engagement, you’ll be a key part of translating strategy into practice. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, support them in leading their teams, and contribute to how we continue to strengthen our workforce, systems and approach over time.
You’ll also be part of a team that is energetic, practical and collaborative. We enjoy working together, we share ideas and we focus on getting the work done well.
We offer a competitive salary at senior manager level, plus super, salary packaging and a vehicle.

About the role

This is a hands-on leadership role with real organisational reach.
You’ll lead a small team and be responsible for delivering core People & Culture and WHS functions across the organisation. You’ll partner closely with leaders to navigate complex people matters, build capability and strengthen team performance.
Alongside day-to-day delivery, you’ll contribute to broader organisational work, including improving systems, shaping approaches and supporting the rollout of key initiatives.
This role is based in South Australia with occasional travel to the Northern Territory. We also support flexible ways of working and are open to discussing arrangements that work for both you and the team.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading People & Culture operations across the employee lifecycle
• Partnering with leaders to provide clear, practical advice on performance, engagement and team dynamics
• Managing employee and industrial relations matters with sound judgement
• Leading and developing a small P&C team
• Overseeing WHS through the WHS Advisor and supporting safe workplaces
• Strengthening systems and processes to improve consistency and experience
• Using data and insights to identify trends and inform decision-making

What you’ll bring

• Experience in a senior HR Business Partner or HR Manager role
• Confidence managing complex people matters independently
• A practical, grounded approach and the ability to build strong relationships
• Experience leading or mentoring others
• Strong understanding of employment legislation and industrial relations
• The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery
• A calm, credible and collaborative leadership style

Why this role

This is a role where your work is visible and valued.
You’ll be supporting the people who deliver a broad range of community services, including housing and homelessness, family support, foster care, financial counselling and allied health, and your work will directly influence how those services are experienced.
The work is real, varied and sometimes complex, and your role will have a direct impact on how people experience work across the organisation.
