An international NGO, with offices located at the Cape Town Waterfront, is seeking a People & Culture HR Officer to support day-to-day HR operations in collaboration with its UK team. You will be responsible for managing HR documentation, coordinating payroll changes, and contributing to a positive and well-organised workplace environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Matric, or similar qualification
  • A relevant diploma or degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field is a bonus
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar HR role
  • Knowledge of South African Labour Law
  • Knowledge of UK Law – Advantageous
  • A genuine empathy and strong interpersonal skills, with a commitment to building a positive and supportive workplace culture
  • Experience with cross-cultural collaboration is also an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to all levels of the organisation
  • Hybrid working – 2 days in office, 3 days remote | Hours: 09:00 – 17:30
 
DUTIES
 
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee and manager queries, providing frontline HR advice on a wide range of topics, including performance management, disciplinary matters, grievances, and conflict resolution
  • Ensure all HR practices, policies, and procedures comply with South African labour law
  • Conducting an annual review of employee benefits and reviewing policies to ensure they are current and legally compliant
  • Recruitment and Onboarding
  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from drafting job ads and supporting the selection process to preparing employment contracts and supporting induction plans
  • Responsible for mandatory onboarding, including safeguarding and cybersecurity training
  • Data and Systems Management
  • Gather employee analytics for initial review and assist in collecting feedback for system items
  • Managing the company HRIS programmes
  • Draft internal communications and manage culture-building activities like sending out birthday cards and shoutouts
  • You will also assist in scheduling deep-dive surveys and collecting feedback from teams
  • Administrative and Executive Support
  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the People Partner and CEO, including efficient diary management, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and drafting correspondence.
  • Compliance and Safety: Oversee all cybersecurity policies and ensure staff right-to-work and DBS compliance
  • Salary and Benefits: Assist with the annual salary benchmarking and annual employee benefits review
 
Salary: R negotiable dependent on experience
