DescriptionPurpose
The Talent Development Specialist / Senior Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing the skills, knowledge, and capabilities of NGM and Barrick employees through strategic learning and development initiatives. The position level will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and demonstrated scope of expertise. We are open to candidates ranging from Specialist through Senior Specialist level.
The successful candidate will bring a passion for talent growth and organizational development, along with the ability to design, implement, and continuously improve learning and development programs that support organizational goals and employee career growth.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive talent development programs that align with organizational goals and support employee growth.
- Conduct training needs assessments to identify skills gaps and development opportunities across various departments.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and department heads to develop and deliver training materials, workshops, and learning resources.
- Facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions both in-person and virtually, ensuring content is relevant and impactful.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics, adjusting programs as needed to optimize outcomes.
- Partner with HR and management to create career development plans for employees, offering guidance and resources for professional growth.
- Research and stay current on industry trends and best practices in talent development, bringing innovative ideas and approaches to the team.
- Serve as a mentor and coach to employees, providing support and encouragement in their career advancement.
- Manage relationships with external training providers and vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring quality delivery of services.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of training activities and employee development progress.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of talent development strategies, programs, processes, and tools.
- For Senior Specialist-level scope, take on greater ownership of complex talent development initiatives, provide guidance to less-experienced team members, and serve as a subject matter resource for learning and development practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience and Skills
- Demonstrated experience in talent development, learning and development, organizational development, or a similar field. Experience level may range from developing/early-career talent development experience through advanced experience appropriate for a Senior Specialist role.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and other training software/tools.
- Ability to analyze training needs and develop targeted solutions that meet organizational objectives.
- Effective project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and consultative approach.
- Experience in talent development within the mining industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with performance management processes and competency frameworks.
- Knowledge of career planning and succession planning strategies.
- Experience with data analysis, reporting, and using learning metrics to evaluate program effectiveness.
- Certification in training or talent development (e.g., CPLP, ATD certifications) is a plus.
