Description

Midland Transport is seeking a Manager, Talent Acquisition, to lead and elevate our recruitment function across both salaried and operational recruitment streams. This will oversee a team of driver recruiters and a team of salaried recruiters, ensuring the delivery of high quality, efficient, and scalable hiring solutions that support operational and strategic needs. 

Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, the Manager will play a critical role in recruitment process optimization, workforce planning, and strengthening our position as an employer of choice in a competitive labour market. 

 



Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development: 

  • Establish clear performance expectations, service levels, and accountability standards 

  • Foster a high-performance, customer focused recruitment culture 

  • Support capability building across our teams of driver and salaried recruiters (e.g., sourcing, interviewing, compliance, stakeholder management) 

Recruitment Strategy: 

  • Build and execute recruitment strategies for salaried and high-volume driver hiring  

  • Ensure consistent, high-quality hiring practices including structured interviews and assessment approaches 

  • Collaborate with hiring managers and HR Business Partners in defining role requirements, evaluating candidates, and making informed hiring decisions 

  • Anticipate hiring needs across our head office, terminals and regions, ensuring proactive pipeline development 

  • Develop targeted sourcing strategies to address hard-to-fill markets and driver shortages 

  • Elevate employer branding and candidate experience for professional talent 

Employer Branding & Talent Attraction 

  • Strengthen Midland’s employer brand across both driver and salaried talent markets 

  • Develop targeted attraction strategies, including digital campaigns, referrals and partnerships 

  • Ensure consistent and positive candidate experience across all stages of the hiring process 



Qualifications
  • 7 - 10+ years of progressive recruitment experience managing full-cycle recruitment across both professional and high-volume roles 

  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required 

  • Proven experience leading and developing recruitment teams 

  • Strong stakeholder management, data-driven decision-making, and process improvement skills 

  • Experience with recruitment systems (ATS/HRIS) and recruitment analytics 

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
