Travel Required: Less than 10%

Compensation: $104,000 – 120,000 per year

 

Summary

We’re looking for a Manager, People Operations & Payroll leader to own and optimize our payroll, benefits, systems, and people processes. This role is central to ensuring operational excellence across the employee lifecycle—from accurate multi-state payroll processing and benefits administration to leading HR tech (Paycom) strategy, system integrations, and data automation. Ideal candidates thrive in a fast-paced environment, bring deep technical payroll and systems expertise, and are passionate about building scalable, compliant, and employee-friendly processes.

 

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Own and manage biweekly payroll processing with accuracy and compliance across multiple states
  • Oversee benefits administration including enrollments, life events, invoice reconciliation, vendor coordination, and compliance filings (ACA, 5500, etc.)
  • Serve as the functional lead and system administrator for the HR tech stack, including Paycom
  • Identify opportunities for automation and implement scalable solutions across the employee lifecycle
  • Lead integrations between HR systems and adjacent platforms (e.g., finance, IT, applicant tracking)
  • Improve the quality, accessibility, and automation of people data and reporting
  • Create and maintain dashboards, workflows, and self-service capabilities for the People Team and business leaders
  • Audit and enhance HR processes related to onboarding, offboarding, timekeeping, leave management, and compliance
  • Manage and mentor the staff to ensure execution of administrative and transactional tasks
  • Partner with IT, Legal, and Finance to ensure data security, risk mitigation, and aligned business processes
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Deep hands-on payroll expertise with strong knowledge of wage and hour laws, tax compliance, and multi-state regulations
  • Strong technical expertise in HR systems, with Paycom or similar platform experience
  • Ability to translate HR needs into process and system solutions
  • Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with data dashboards, audits, and reporting logic
  • Highly organized with project management skills and a process-optimization mindset
  • Proficiency in workflow automation tools, advanced Excel, and dashboard/report building
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
  • Comfortable working independently, managing deadlines, and juggling multiple priorities
  • Clear, professional communicator with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Effective communicator and partner to cross-functional teams

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field OR equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
  • 6+ years of progressive HR operations experience, with significant payroll ownership
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), SHRM-CP, or equivalent certification, preferred
  • Experience with Canadian payroll, preferred
  • Experience implementing or optimizing HR systems and scaling workflows
