Quantitative Data:

  • Coordinates approximately 125 enterprise-wide, learning opportunities. Provides onsite support and execution in 35 (28%) weeklong, in-person events per year
  • Supports a talent development team of 15 team members, responsible for the development of 20,000 team members

Position Description

This position aligns with the Talent Development function for Hormel Foods Corporation, which is a part of the corporate Human Resources organization. The Talent Development team oversees vital talent management, development, and organizational change processes, programs, and services designed to develop and enhance the skills of our team members. In addition, this role works closely with multiple stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery, operations, analysis, and sustainment of talent, learning, and organizational development programs. The role is vital to ensure that learning participants have an exceptional experience. 

This individual contributor role reports to the Learning and Talent Development Manager. 

Position Duties

Plans and Manages Logistics for Learning & Talent Development Programs (65%)

The Learning Experiences Coordinator fosters a learning culture by delivering experiences and solutions, making learning, professional growth, and organization transformation possible for the entire enterprise.  The incumbent adds value by consulting stakeholders on effective solutions to strengthen our program planning, management, and execution (including coordinating all logistical requirements). The ability to anticipate challenges and proactively manage solutions is crucial.

Key Activities

  • Collaborates with talent development leaders to coordinate activities for training programs for all delivery modes (such as virtual, in-person in Austin MN, or i-person at external locations), including arranging necessary resources, executing program marketing and communication plan tasks, and creating and preparing program materials, handouts, and other items essential to the learning experience
  • Organizes travel, entertainment, and meals for programs as needed
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate waste and optimize processes related to program execution
  • Proactively anticipate issues that impact participant’s event experiences to support resolution
  • Collaborates with talent development stakeholders to improve team member learning experiences and strengthens vendor relationships by applying continuous improvement opportunities to talent development processes

 

Supports Talent Development Functional Operations (35%)

The Learning Coordinator ensures the successful operations of all talent development functions by coordinating several critical processes.

Key Activities

  • Coordinates all purchase orders, invoices, contracts, and vendor management
  • Actively monitors program registration and communicates program opportunities through multiple talent development communication systems
  • Manages and assigns facilitator-led learning opportunities in the learning management system
  • Generates reports, completion metrics, survey results, and participation dashboards for analytics of learner experiences

  • Administrates and updates the learning management system for participant completion management
  • Resolves, monitors, and responds to learner inquiries and provides timely, user-centered assistance via email, chat, ticketing systems, or help queues. 
  • Troubleshoots and resolves common learner challenges (access issues, navigation, content playback, pre-work confusion, etc.).
  • Acts as a back-up administrator for the talent development tech stack
  • Supports level 2 and level 3 learning assessments via pre-event and post-event communications at the direction of program leaders on objectives, skill coaching and learning follow-up tasks
  • Completes miscellaneous tasks or projects as assigned

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

  • Ability to work as a member of a diversified, high-performance work team with a willingness to collaborate for success
  • Excellent communications skills (listening, verbal, and written)
  • Unquestionable ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold our company’s values
  • Ability to work accurately, with close attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • Intermediate-level utilization of Microsoft 365 applications
  • Ability to work well under pressure or ambiguity
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.

Preferred:

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to initiate appropriate action independently as well as exercise maturity in judgment
  • Ability to learn new software systems and applications quickly

 

Experience

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED required; or equivalent combination of education and two or more years of professional experience in an administrative assistant, event coordinator, or similar role

Preferred

  • Familiarity with learning management or human resource information system administration

At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range.  The base hiring pay range for this role is between $18.75-$26.25 per hour, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
