POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of the Human Resources Director position is to recruit, maintain, and evaluate facility employees. The Human Resources Director works with Department Managers to create a positive, professional work culture.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following represents the essential functions of the Human Resource Director's role. This list is intended to be a general description of duties and responsibilities; however, it is subject to change according to the needs of the facility determined by the Regional Supervisor or corporate designee.

• The Human Resources Director sets the tone for the work environment within the facility. Legacy's goal is for employees to work in a positive, professional, and fun setting.

• The Human Resources Director works with Department Managers to encourage employees to achieve the highest level of training/ education that they are capable of. Legacy encourages the personal growth of its employees.

• The Human Resource Director uses recruiting platforms as directed by the corporate office to obtain possible candidates for open positions.

• The Human Resource Director oversees the hiring process and orientation program.

• The Human Resource Director ensures appropriate paperwork, demographics, background checks, adverse action/ sanction searches, licensure verification, and training are complete upon hire.

• The Human Resource Director maintains copies of employee records according to applicable labor laws and facility regulations.

The Human Resource Director oversees the completion of all employee evaluations.

The Human Resource Director enforces the employee code of conduct and facility policies and procedures including the dress code.

The Human Resource Director orders employees uniforms per policy.

• The Human Resource Director obtains Medical History Questionnaires from all new hires and annually on current employees.

• The Human Resource Director maintains confidentiality of resident and employee information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

• The HR Director will file any medical-related documents in a confidential file for each employee.

The Human Resource Director will provide new hires with the access they need to computer programs (email, PointClickCare, Teams, etc) as well as keys to the appropriate physical plant (offices, storage closets, hopper rooms, etc.).

• The Human Resource Director verifies COVID-19 vaccination status upon hire and as it changed. The Human Resource Director oversees the COVID-19 exemption filing as well.

• The Human Resource Director enrolls employees in insurance benefit programs per their elections.

• The Human Resource Director keeps employees informed of upcoming open enrollment dates.

• The Human Resource Director keeps employees up to date with required Dementia Training and completes it at least every 90-days for new hires per the regulation.

• The Human Resource Director may sit in on counseling or disciplinary discussion as a witness.

• The Human Resource Director may mediate issues between employees to maintain a culture of teamwork.

• The Human Resource Director works with Department Managers to reduce employee turnover.

• The Human Resource Director is knowledgeable of regulations, survey requirements, and guidelines that pertain to nursing care facilities.

•The Human Resource Director reports work-related injuries to worker's compensation insurance carrier and posts required OSHA 300 log annually per the regulation.

•The Human Resource Director assists in answering phone calls at the facility.

•The Human Resource Director may enter Accounts Payables into Point Click Care and submit reports for the Administrator and/or Corporate Designee to review.

•The Human Resource Direct may call vendors in regard to erroneous invoicing or other invoicing concerns. HR Director will use statements to check invoicing for accuracy.

•The Human Resource Director will scan copies of invoices into the correct Accounts Payable folders for future reference.

•The Human Resources Director will ensure proper stock of office supplies is available and may place orders or oversee their placement for budgetary monitoring.

•The Human Resource Director will ensure employees have the equipment they need to do their jobs effectively and efficiently.

• The Human Resource Director will notify the Administrator of any information requests, claims, of legal issues in a timely manner.

• The Human Resource Director is aware of departmental position openings and needs.

• The Human Resource Director oversees employee timekeeping and may correct employee time.

• The Human Resource Director checks payroll for accuracy before the close of each payroll.

• The Human Resource Director may obtain employee satisfactory survey data and implement solutions to improve work environment.

Must act in ways that promote professional and positive representation of the facility to the community.

Communicates in a professional and courteous manner using effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills with residents, their families, co-workers, and vendors.

Maintains confidentiality of department, resident, employee information, communication, and documentation as well as compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.

• Attends in-service training as required

Clocks in and out for all working/training hours. Working off the clock will not be permitted at any time or for any reason.

Maintain compliance with Legacy's Compliance program and plan.

Adhere to Legacy's Code of Conduct and Dress Code.

These duties are not all-inclusive but provide minimum performance expectations which will be reviewed in the evaluation process. Supervisor may edit, alter, add to, or exclude duties and responsibilities based on the needs of the facility.


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Freedom from illegal use of drugs.
  • Freedom from use and effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
  • Anyone found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in the position.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Human Resource experience preferred
  • LTC experience preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • High School Diploma
