Job Summary: Heritage Classical Academy is seeking a qualified Human Resources Director. The Director serves as an important member of the team, supporting the mission of the school by cultivating a Christ-centered, healthy, and thriving workplace culture. This individual provides strategic and operational leadership in all areas of human resources, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, benefits administration, and staff development.  The Director ensures that all HR practices align with the school’s Christian mission, core values, and commitment to cultivating lifelong learning.


Biblical Expectations: All employees of Heritage Classical Academy possess a Christian testimony demonstrating a personal, active, and growing relationship with Jesus Christ. They also fully support HCA’s Statement of Faith and support the mission to Cultivate Lifelong Learners Who Think and Live for Christ. They are also involved in a local church that aligns with the mission and vision of HCA.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Full support of Heritage’s Statement of Faith, Mission, and Vision statements
  • Passion and commitment for the classical model
  • Committed Christian with active membership in a local church
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master's degree preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Conduct oneself with Christ-like professional behavior
  • 5+ years of HR experience, with increasing leadership responsibility
  • Knowledge of employment law and HR best practices, particularly within Ohio
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters with integrity and discretion

 Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in a school or nonprofit setting
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent certification
  • A heart for serving others and fostering a Christ-centered community

 

Job Responsibilities: Mission & Culture:

  • Promote and support the school’s Christian mission, statement of faith, and core values in all HR practices
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, grace, accountability, and mutual respect among faculty and staff
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on matters related to personnel and organizational health

Recruitment & Hiring

  • Lead and manage the full-cycle recruitment process for faculty and staff
  • Ensure hiring practices prioritize both professional excellence and alignment with the school’s mission and beliefs
  • Oversee onboarding processes to support strong integration of new employees into the community

Employee Relations & Support

  • Provide guidance and support to supervisors and staff on performance management, conflict resolution, and personnel concerns
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with wisdom, discretion, and care
  • Develop and implement policies that promote clarity, consistency, and fairness

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and Ohio employment laws and regulations
  • Maintain accurate employee records and oversee HR systems
  • Manage employee benefits programs, contracts, and compensation structures

Professional Development

  • Support leadership in developing faculty and staff through training, evaluation processes, and growth opportunities
  • Assist in performance review systems that encourage excellence and continuous improvement
