HR Generalist
The HR SourceWe are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to provide short-term HR support for a healthcare insurance organization. This individual will step into an established HR function and provide hands-on support across benefits administration, leave management, payroll administration, employee support, and general HR operations.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced HR professional who can hit the ground running with minimal training, quickly learn existing processes, and independently manage day-to-day HR responsibilities. Recent, hands-on experience processing payroll using Paylocity is required.
In addition to maintaining current HR operations, this individual should be able to identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen HR workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day HR Generalist responsibilities and provide support to employees and managers.
Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, terminations, employee questions, and coordination with benefit providers.
Manage and track employee leaves of absence, including FMLA and other applicable leave programs.
Process and administer payroll using Paylocity, ensuring employee information, deductions, changes, and payroll data are accurate and completed on schedule.
Maintain employee records and HRIS information and ensure data accuracy.
Respond to employee questions related to payroll, benefits, leave, HR policies, and other employment matters.
Support employee onboarding and offboarding activities as needed.
Assist with employee relations and other general HR matters.
Ensure HR practices and documentation are consistent with applicable employment laws, policies, and organizational procedures.
Review existing HR processes and recommend practical process improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
Partner with HR leadership and other departments to address immediate HR needs and priorities.
Maintain appropriate confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and organizational information.
Provide additional HR operational support as needed throughout the contract assignment.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in an HR Generalist, Senior HR Generalist, HR Manager, or similar hands-on role.
Strong experience with benefits administration and leave management.
Recent hands-on experience processing payroll in Paylocity is required.
Demonstrated experience identifying and implementing HR process improvements.
Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Strong attention to detail, particularly when working with payroll, benefits, and employee records.
Excellent communication and employee-service skills.
Ability to quickly assess existing processes and become productive with minimal ramp-up time.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working within a healthcare insurance, health plan, managed care, or similarly regulated organization.
Experience supporting a broad range of HR functions in a lean HR department.
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
Advanced experience with Paylocity beyond basic HRIS administration.
