One of our valued clients in the motor dealership industry is seeking to appoint an experienced and dynamic HR Generalist.
This role is responsible for providing comprehensive human resources support across all dealership departments, including Sales, Service, Parts, and Administration. The successful candidate will ensure the effective implementation of HR policies, compliance with South African labour legislation, and the smooth execution of daily HR operations, contributing to a productive and compliant dealership environment.
 
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the full recruitment process, including advertising, shortlisting, interviews, and appointment documentation.
  • Assist with disciplinary hearings, grievances, and performance-related matters in accordance with labour legislation and company policies.
  • Promote positive employee relations and a professional workplace culture.
  • Support the implementation and administration of performance management processes.
  • Coordinate training initiatives, skills development, and compliance-related training.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, contracts, and personnel files.
  • Administer leave, attendance, probation, and termination processes.
  • Ensure adherence to South African labour legislation and internal HR policies.
  • Assist with policy implementation, updates, and staff communication.
  • Support audits and inspections where required (e.g., Department of Labour).
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and dealership safety policies, including workshops and service areas.
  • Support management with safety records, risk assessments, and preparation for audits or inspections.

Desired Requirements, Experience & Qualifications
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years’ HR experience, preferably within the automotive, retail, or service industry.
  • Proven experience in recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and HR compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of South African labour legislation.
  • MIBCO experience will be a strong advantage.
  • Exposure to dealership operations is highly beneficial.
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, and time-management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive matters confidentially.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS/payroll systems.
  • Professional, ethical, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dealership environment and manage multiple priorities.
